HH in general Israel has accepted upon themselves that electricity is
forbidden to ignite on Shabbos. I'm not sure why, it is always easy to be
stringent, but Rabbainu said not to have any stringencies, so why would
Breslov just go along with the prohibition. It must be that they viewed it
like muktza. Muktza was a decree of the Sages when they saw the masses
violating Shabbos treating it as any other day of business, the Sages
forbade just about everything. Later when things improved, the Sages lifted
many of the restrictions, but they still left what we now have as the laws
of muktza. (The worst of course is MM machmas meyoos, you know meshiach
meshiach...). It seems likely that with advent of Messiah restoring the
faith, all the laws of muktza will be lifted together with the self imposed
prohibition against electricity.
In any event, the more electric cars out there, the less desecration of
Shabbos.
