The words of your father and your teacher — of all who wish to hear my words — and who still walks in his integrity [דִּבְרֵי אֲבִיכֶם וְרַבְּכֶם שֶׁל כָּל הָרוֹצֶה לִשְׁמֹעַ דְּבָרַי וְעוֹדֶנּוּ בְּתֻמָּתוֹ — a remarkable closing formula: Reb Nussun addresses himself as father and teacher not only to Yitzchok his son but to all who wish to hear his words and who still walk in integrity. The phrase *v'odenu b'tumasoh* — "and still walks in his integrity" — echoes *b'tumi* from the Purim morning passage above, and recalls the Iyov verse *ad egva lo asir tumasi* of Letter 174 itself]. Peace to you — do not fear — for Hashem is with you. They will perish — they and a thousand like them — and not one word of his holy Torah shall be annulled.

דַּע בְּנִי כִּי אֲנִי נוֹסֵעַ עִם מוֹסֵר כְּתָב זֶה אִישׁ מִטּוּלְטְשִׁין לִקְהִלַּת טֶעפְּלִיק עַל שַׁבַּת קֹדֶשׁ הַבָּא עָלֵינוּ לְטוֹבָה וְאִם יִרְצֶה הַשֵּׁם אַחַר שַׁבָּת בְּיוֹם ב' ג' אֶסַּע לְבֵיתִי, הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ יוֹלִיכֵנִי לְשָׁלוֹם. אִם יִרְצֶה הַשֵּׁם כְּשֶׁנִּתְוַעֵד יַחַד נְדַבֵּר פָּנִים אֶל פָּנִים אֶת אֲשֶׁר יַזְמִין הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ לְפִינוּ. לְעֵת עַתָּה תֵּדַע וְתִזְכֹּר הֵיטֵב בְּכָל יוֹם כִּי גָּדוֹל ה' וְלִגְדֻלָּתוֹ אֵין חֵקֶר, וּבְכָל יוֹם וָעֵת נַעֲשִׂים וְנִתְחַדְּשִׁים חִדּוּשִׁים נִפְלָאִים בָּעוֹלָם. וְהַכֹּל לְהוֹדִיעַ וּלְרַמֵּז וּלְהַזְכִּיר אֶת כָּל אָדָם גְּדֻלָּתוֹ וּמֶמְשַׁלְתּוֹ יִתְבָּרַךְ, כְּדֵי שֶׁיּוּכַל לְהִתְדַּבֵּק בּוֹ כָּל אֶחָד וְאֶחָד מִכָּל מָקוֹם שֶׁהוּא, בְּכָל עֵת וּבְכָל שָׁעָה וּבְכָל רֶגַע שֶׁיִּרְצֶה, כְּמוֹ שֶׁכָּתוּב (אִיּוֹב ז) "וַתִּפְקְדֶנּוּ לִבְקָרִים לִרְגָעִים תִּבְחָנֶנּוּ". וַאֲנִי בְּעָנְיִי מְחַיֶּה אֶת עַצְמִי בְּזֶה הַפָּסוּק זֶה כַּמָּה, אַךְ לְמַעַן הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ שֶׁתְּקַבֵּל הַכֹּל לְטוֹבָה וְלֹא לְהֵפֶךְ, לְשִׂמְחָה וְלֹא לְעַצְבוּת חַס וְשָׁלוֹם, לְקָרֵב וְלֹא לְרַחֵק חַס וְשָׁלוֹם, כִּי חַסְדֵי ה' כִּי לֹא תָמְנוּ וְכוּ'. וְיֵשׁ בָּזֶה הַרְבֵּה לְדַבֵּר וּלְרַמֵּז בַּיָּדַיִם כִּי מְאֹד עָמְקוּ מַחְשְׁבוֹתָיו. יָתֵר מִזֶּה אֵין פְּנַאי לְהַאֲרִיךְ.

דִּבְרֵי אָבִיךָ הַמְצַפֶּה לִרְאוֹתְךָ בְּחַיִּים וְשָׁלוֹם וְשִׂמְחָה.

And I have no standing for livelihood and no support except trust. Only ( nar ) — trust. [נָאר בִּטָּחוֹן — Yiddish/Hebrew blend: nar is Yiddish for "only" — the final word of this letter. A deliberately stark statement — stripped of all elaboration. His entire sustenance rests on one thing and one thing only: bitachon — trust in Hashem]
