And even if our deeds are as they are, and we have strayed like a lost sheep to a place of desolate wilderness, to a place of chaos and emptiness — even so, let us not worry and let us not be saddened. For Hashem is with us and alongside us and beside us and close to us at every time and in every place. Only the essential thing — to hold ourselves with both hands, with all our powers, to the point of truth, for which we have merited in these generations to such new and awesome revelations the like of which have never been heard — which transforms everything to good. Fortunate is the one who shelters in his shadow and walks in his ways and heeds the voice of his great exhortation, never to despair at all — and to be always in joy over all the good points that are still found within us. And he will certainly do his part — to fulfill his promise to take us out from the belly of the netherworld. The more a person knows within himself that he is more seriously ill, and that his blemishes and his corruptions and his distance from Hashem Yisburach are very great — he must search and seek more and more after the Tzadik greatest in stature, who is able to heal even him. For the greater the sick person, the greater a doctor he requires."

As we have found with many who deviated through their wisdom from Hashem Yisburach and His Torah, and fell into the nethermost depths — because they stood firm upon their own corrupted wisdom and intellect. "en": "There was a King's Son who was wise and loved wisdom greatly, and he had great sages with him. And anyone who came to him with some matter of wisdom was held in very great esteem by him, and he would give them honor and wealth for the sake of the wisdom — to each one according to his wish: whoever wanted money, he gave him money; whoever wanted honor, he gave him honor — all for the sake of wisdom. And because wisdom was so prized by him, they all took themselves to wisdom, and the entire country engaged in wisdoms — this one wanted money, so that he would receive money through it, and that one wanted esteem and honor. And because they all engaged only in wisdom, they forgot in that country the arts of war (tachsisai milchama) — for they were all engaged in wisdoms, until all the inhabitants of that country were great sages — to the point where the least of that country would have been a greater sage than all others in another country. And the sages of that country were very great and exceptionally profound sages — and there was great depth and subtlety in the wisdom of those sages. And because of the wisdoms, the sages of that country became heretics, and they drew the aforementioned King's Son also to their opinion, and he became a heretic as well. And the King's Son — because there was good within him, for he was born with good, and he had good and upright qualities — would sometimes remember where he stood in the world, and what he was doing, etc. And he would groan and sigh over this — over having fallen into such confusions and having strayed so far — and he would sigh deeply. But the moment he would begin to use his intellect, the aforementioned heretical wisdoms would return and grow strong within him. And so it was many times — he would remember where he stood in the world, etc., and he would groan and sigh, and the moment he began to use his intellect, the aforementioned heresy would return and grow strong within him."

For this is our portion from all our labor — this is our hope, this is our consolation, this is our eternal salvation. Arayn ton zich gut tif {to enter yourself deeply and well} in the words of Rabbainu za.tza.l. — in the Torah teachings, in the stories, and in the prayers, etc. And pour into them all the powers of your soul and all the holy fire that is rooted in your Jewish heart, into all our treasures — and then vesti leben a leben {you will see what life truly is}. For apart from this, there is no vitality whatsoever. The entire world is filled with sufferings and endless various adventures, and no person has anything to console himself with except for the little good that he merits to snatch in these few evil days."
