קבלת תענית
"ריבון העולמים, הריני לפניך, על תנאי, בתענית נדבה למחר, מעלות השחר עד אחר תפילת ערבית. ואם לא אוכל או לא ארצה כשאומר "מזמור לדוד ה' רועי לא אחסר" וכו', אוכל להפסיק ולא יהיה בי שום עוון. אבל יהי רצון מלפניך ה' אלוקי ואלוקי אבותי, שתתן בי כוח ובריאות ואזכה להתענות למחר, ותקבלה באהבה וברצון, ותזכני לשוב בתשובה שלמה, ותענה עתירתי ותשמע תפילתי, כי אתה שומע תפילת כל פה. ברוך שומע תפילה".
Acceptance of a fast

"Master of all worlds — behold I stand before You, conditionally, in a voluntary fast for tomorrow — from the break of dawn until after the evening prayer. And if I am unable, or if I do not wish to, when I say 'A Psalm of David — Hashem is my shepherd, I shall not lack,' etc. — I may then eat and there will be no transgression in me whatsoever. But may it be Your will, Hashem my G-d and the G-d of my fathers — that You grant me strength and health, and may I merit to fast tomorrow. And may You receive it with love and with favor — and may You grant me merit to return in complete teshuvah. And may You answer my entreaty and hear my prayer — for You hear the prayer of every mouth. Blessed is the One Who hears prayer."
