אֵין הַקָּדוֹשׁ-בָּרוּךְ-הוּא חָפֵץ לְחַיֵּב כָּל בְּרִיָּה אֶלָּא מְבַקֵּשׁ שֶׁיִּתְפַּלְּלוּ לְפָנָיו וִיקַבְּלֵם וַאֲפִלּוּ אֵין אָדָם כְּדַאי לֵעָנוֹת בִּתְפִלָּתוֹ וְלַעֲשׂוֹת עִמּוֹ חֶסֶד כֵּיוָן שֶׁמִּתְפַּלֵּל וּמַרְבֶּה בְּתַחֲנוּנִים אֲנִי עוֹשֶׂה חֶסֶד עִמּוֹ (מִדְרָשׁ תַּנְחוּמָא, וַיֵּרָא, פָּרָשָׁה ח) .
