Tinyana All the great leaders, almost all of them, are actually insane What we see, that all the great leaders, almost all of them, are actually insane , as we see with our senses that everyone who is rich has great insanity. Know, that wealth [mammon – money] makes him insane. For wealth [mammon] is from the fall of the wealth of the prophets. For all the prophets were rich ( Nedarim 38a). And prophecy, when it came upon the prophet, was like becoming insane, as Rashi explained: “And he prophesied” – and he became crazed (1 Samuel 18:10). And with the aforementioned leaders , through wealth [mammon], it becomes complete insanity. And therefore, they become insane through their wealth.
