כל מי שגדול יותר, צריך לבקש מבקשו ברחוק מקום יותר. כמו שאנו רואין, שהצומח - חיותו ומבקשו סמוך לו מיד, כי הוא צומח מן הארץ בסמוך לו ממש, ובהמה - מבקשה סמוך לה גם כן על הארץ, אך הוא ברחוק יותר קצת מן הצומח, כי הבהמה גדולה במעלה מן הצומח. אבל בן אדם צריך לבקש מבקשו ברחוק יותר ויותר מן הבהמה. ועל כן משה רבנו, עליו השלום, שהיה גדול במעלה מאד, היה צריך לבקש מבקשו ברחוק מקום ביותר, ועל כן הצרך לבקש לו אשה ממדין, כי מבקשו היה רחוק מחמת גדלתו:

Everyone who is greater must seek his sought-after in a more distant place. As we see that the plant, its vitality and its sought-after is close to it immediately, for it grows from the earth close to it literally. And the animal, its sought-after is close to it also on the earth. But it is in a distance a bit more than the plant, for the animal is greater in level than the plant. But a son of man must seek his sought-after in a distance

than the animal. Therefore, Moshe Rabbeinu, peace be upon him, who was very great in level, had to seek his sought-after in a distance from a place more. Therefore, he had to seek for himself a wife from Midian, for his sought-after was far from him because of his greatness.
