EN: Peace and blessing and all good forever — to his honor — my beloved, my dear, my precious — from the precious and faithful Breslover Chassidim[מאנ"ש הנאמנים = מאנשי שלומינו הנאמנים — "the faithful ones from our Chassidim." נאמנים = faithful, reliable, steadfast — the highest trust.] — who occupy themselves with the needs of the community — and are connected to our holy master the Rebbe — and long for him and his matters — the revered Chassid and so on — his honor, his splendor, his glory, our master Rabbi Tzvi Yosef Vasilefsky[כמהר"ר = כבוד מורינו הרב רבי — the full salutation honorific.], may his light shine, may G-d protect him — and all his household[כב"ב = וכל בני ביתו — "and all the members of his household."], may they live — and all those attached to him, may they live. And behold I am praying for you and mentioning you for good every day — and I have performed a pidyon for you — and for R' Tzvi son of Mirel Dvorah Reichman, may his light shine — and for R'... may his light shine — from the precious Breslover Chassidim, may they live — and I mention you for good each and every day. Segment 2 EN: Healing for R' Meir; A Remedy for Jaundice; The Book Ya'alas Chen at the Binder — Urgent Appeal And regarding our friend R' Meir, may his light shine — who has the illness of jaundice [חולי ירקון — "the illness of jaundice." Jaundice (ירקון — yirakon — from ירוק, yarok, green/yellow) — a yellowing of the skin and eyes caused by liver dysfunction. The author offers both spiritual remedies (gazing at the tzitzis, reciting Song of Songs at dawn) and a folk remedy: placing a dove on the patient's navel to draw out the jaundice.] — besides the remedies and segulos that are in our master the Rebbe's books in general for all kinds of illness — to gaze at the tzitzis — and to recite the Song of Songs toward morning — and the essential above all: prayer and so on — and the names of the Tzaddikim which change nature. I saw in the holy books: to wash the face with the waters of the "apin" — for one who has jaundice. And there is also a remedy: to take a dove and place it on the navel of the sick person — and it will draw out the jaundice through its mouth from the navel of the sick person — and the dove will die — and the sick person will be healed. And regarding writing letters of strengthening and the service of Hashem — I am very preoccupied now — for I am — with G-d's help — bringing forth from potential to actuality my very precious book "Ya'alas Chen" — which is Torah 1 of Likutay Moharan — "Ashrei temimei darech" — "Happy are those wholesome in the way" — with everything relevant to it — everything in its proper place — in the format of the Talmud with the commentaries surrounding it. And it is a thing that has not yet existed like this. And one cannot estimate the preciousness of this book. [And also at the beginning — the entire praise of our master the Rebbe's books — and the studying of them in depth — and making from the Torah a prayer and hisbodidus — and walking with the Torah — and so on — the preciousness of these matters cannot be estimated — for there has been nothing like them yet.] And it is more than ten years since I began this — and I printed six folio sheets — and from then until now they have been lying in my house getting torn — and so on. And with G-d's help I have completed another six folio sheets — up to a certain matter — and I made this into Part 1. And one can understand the debts I have incurred on this. And I am compelled now to bind the books — and if not — all the toil and effort will have been in vain — and will be lost as until now. And the binding itself — approximately a thousand Israeli pounds — I am compelled to borrow and do this without any delay whatsoever. And one cannot estimate the great merit of the many that is in this. Happy is the one who merits to assist in this — [and the goods that will come from this to all who merit to study this book — who can come to what one will come to through studying our master the Rebbe's book in depth — and making from the Torah a prayer — and walking with the Torah — cannot be estimated or assessed at all]. And I have no assistance from here — as is well known regarding the situation of our Chassidim here. And therefore I am compelled to turn to his honor — who occupies himself with the needs of our master the Rebbe זצ"ל — and that he together with all our dear companions from our Chassidim — and in particular our dear friend our master... and R'... and all the rest of our dear companions — should do all in their power and strive with all their capacity to assist me with assistance that has actual substance. And one cannot estimate the greatness of the matter and the great merit you will gain in this. For with G-d's help — I do not want to take from this any income for my livelihood — only all the assistance I obtain — and all the income from the books that will be sold — will be only to pay the debts from the printing and the binding — and afterward whatever remains will be only for the printing of the remaining parts of the book — and so on — to continue printing the matters of our master the Rebbe זצ"ל — such as a prayer book, a Chumash, and so on. And therefore I request from his honor — to strive greatly in this — with all his heart and soul — with the rest of the companions — to send me a certain sum — so that I can redeem the books from the binder — to whom I gave them for binding — [and who will not take me to court, G-d forbid, if I do not redeem them] — and also that his honor should see to sell as many books as possible — to our Chassidim and to other people — and the income from this — with G-d's help — I will spend only for the printing mentioned above — as above. Please respond to me with a positive and good response with all urgency — and also the names of the people — perhaps we will print them in the book as a memorial — please hasten to write a good response. And know clearly: you can merit through this beyond all measure and estimation — in such a great commandment that has no supporters — and one can acquire one's world through this — and enough said. Segment 3 EN: Chanukah and the Month of Kislev; LT Torah 7; The True Tzaddik Draws the Holiness of Shabbos into the Weekdays; The Chanukah Lights And behold — the holy days of Chanukah are approaching — and also the entire month of Kislev is precious — as brought in Torah 7 of Likutay Tefillot[לק"ת = לקוטי תפלות — "Likutay Tefillot — Collected Prayers." The abbreviation used here and throughout: לק"ת = Likutay Tefillot, R' Nossan's prayer-collection based on the Rebbe's Torahs. Not to be confused with לק"מ (Likutay Moharan).]: "For with compassion He leads them." [תו' ז' לק"ת — "Torah 7 of Likutay Tefillot[לק"ת = לקוטי תפלות — "Likutay Tefillot — Collected Prayers." The abbreviation used here and throughout: לק"ת = Likutay Tefillot, R' Nossan's prayer-collection based on the Rebbe's Torahs. Not to be confused with לק"מ (Likutay Moharan).]." Likutay Tefillot — the collection of prayers composed by R' Nossan based on the Rebbe's Torahs. Torah 7 draws on the verse "Ki merachem yinhagem" — "For with compassion He leads them" (Isaiah 49:10). The acronym: כ(ס)ל(יו) — Kislev — can be read from the initials of "Ki Serah Lir'os" — "when He saw fit to look" (Exodus 3:4), suggesting that in Kislev — the month of looking and seeing — one is especially able to draw close. The entire month of Kislev has this quality of special propitious-ness for drawing close.] And "And Hashem saw that he turned aside to look" — the initials spell "Kislev" — for in this month one is especially propitious to draw close. And in particular Chanukah itself — which was one of the occasions of traveling to our master the Rebbe זצ"ל — and we see the greatness of the true Tzaddik — who can draw the highest holiness — in the aspect of Shabbos — freedom — to all the lowest and most physical places. Just as in the days of Chanukah the holiness of Shabbos was drawn to the weekdays through the power of the righteous sons of Mattisyahu and the true Tzaddik of the generation. [See Torah 2 — "Days of Chanukah" — in Likutay Tefillot.] And the Chanukah lights are in the aspect of the holiness of the Menorah of the Holy Temple — and in the aspect of the holiness of the Shabbos candles — in which the supreme unifications were made — as brought in the writings of the Arizal. And they are made by each and every person in his home — and outside — in the place of the Sitra Achra[ס"א = סטרא אחרא — Aramaic: "the other side." The demonic/impure forces.] — by the doorway — below ten handbreadths[למטה מעשרה = למטה מעשרה — "below ten handbreadths." The Shechinah (the divine Presence) is said never to descend below ten handbreadths from the ground (Sukkah 5a). Therefore: placing the Chanukah lights below ten handbreadths is specifically placing them in the space where the divine has never been — the domain of impurity. And yet — specifically there — the lights shine. This is the paradox and the miracle of Chanukah.] — the place where the Shechinah has never descended below ten. And at nightfall — the time when the impure force rules — and the Temple was destroyed through the dominion of the external forces. Then specifically the holiness of the Temple — the dedication of the House — knowledge and the holiness of the Menorah — is awakened. And all of this through the merit and the power of the true Tzaddik. Happy is the one who merits to draw close and connect to him truly — and to act for his sake and his matters — for through this one can merit more than all merits. May Hashem grant us merit for this — and for the holiness of Chanukah in truth. So may it be His will. Amen.
