## Segment 1

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

בַּיִת שֶׁאֵין דָּרִין בּוֹ – יִזָּהֵר מִלְּהִכָּנֵס בְּתוֹכוֹ, כִּי הוּא מְקוֹם שֵׁדִים.

1. A house that is uninhabited – beware of entering it, for it is a place of demons.


## Segment 2

מָאן דְּבִּישׁ לֵהּ בְּמָתָא דָּא יֵלֵךְ לְמָתָא אַחֲרִיתָא.

2. One who has negative experiences in one place should go to another.


## Segment 3

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

כְּשֶׁהַבַּיִת מְזֻמָּן לִבְרָכָה, אֲזַי כְּשֶׁהַצַּדִּיק בָּא לַבַּיִת הַזֶּה גַּם הַבְּרָכָה בָּאָה.

3. When a house is fit to be blessed, then when the Tzaddik comes to the house, the blessing comes as well.


## Segment 4

יֵשׁ מָקוֹם מְזֻמָּן לְטוֹבָה וְהוּא־הַדִּין לְהֵפֶךְ.

4. There are places that are conducive to good fortune, and the opposite is true as well.


## Segment 5

לְעִנְיַן טוֹבוֹת וְרָעוֹת הַבָּאוֹת לָאָדָם קָרוֹב לְדֶרֶךְ הַטֶּבַע, הַכֹּל לְפִי הַזְּמַן וּלְפִי הַמָּקוֹם.

5. Relating to the issue of the good and bad that comes to a person in a fashion proximate to natural events, it is all according to the time and place.


## Segment 6

דְּפָרַע קִנְאָה מַחֲרִיב בֵּיתוֹ.

</div>

6. One who takes revenge out of jealousy destroys his house.


## Segment 7

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

מָקוֹם שֶּׁאָדָם יוֹצֵא מִמֶּנּוּ אֵינוֹ מִתְאַוֶּה לְאוֹתוֹ מָקוֹם לֵהָנוֹת מִמֶּנּוּ.

7. The place from where a man exited, he does not have desire for that place - to get from it pleasure.


## Segment 8

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

אִם עַם־הָאָרֶץ חָסִיד, אַל תָּדוּר בִּשְׁכוּנָתוֹ.

8. If there is an uneducated hassid (-one who is overly pious), do not dwell in his neighborhood.


## Segment 9

כָּל בַּיִת שֶׁנִּשְׁמָעִין בּוֹ דִּבִרֵי־תוֹרָה, שׁוּב אֵינוֹ נֶחֱרָב.

9. Any house in which words of Torah are heard will not be destroyed.


## Segment 10

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

עִיר שֶׁיֵּשׁ בָּהּ מַעֲלוֹת וּמוֹרָדוֹת מַזְקִינִין בַּחֲצִי יְמֵיהֶם.

10. A city which has major ascents and descents (in its topography), its inhabitants grow old halfway through their lives.


## Segment 11

אִם נִשְׁפָּךְ בַּבַּיִת יַיִן כַּמַּיִם אִיכָּא בְּרָכָה.

11. If wine is poured out like water in a house, there is blessing.


## Segment 12

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

אַל תִּכָּנֵס לְבַיִת שֶׁיֵּשׁ בּוֹ צְלָמִים.

</div>

12. Do not enter a house with idols in it.


## Segment 13

מִי שֶׁרוֹצֶה לְהִכָּנֵס לְבַיִת לָדוּר בְּתוֹכוֹ, יֹאמַר הַתּוֹרָה כֻּלָּהּ וְאַחַר־כָּךְ יִכָּנֵס לָדוּר בְּתוֹכוֹ.

13. Someone who wants to enter a house to live in it, he should recite the Torah in it's entirety, and afterwards he can enter to live in it.

מִי שֶׁאֵין לוֹ קַרְקַע, אֵינוֹ אָדָם.

14. Someone without land is not a man.


## Segment 15

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

יֵשׁ מָקוֹם הַגּוֹרֵם לַעֲבֹר עֲבֵרוֹת.

15. There are places which cause one to commit transgressions.


## Segment 16

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

כַּעַס וּזְנוּת שֶׁל אִשָּׁה מַחֲרִיב אֶת הַבַּיִת.

16. Anger and adultery of a woman destroy the house.


## Segment 17

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

כְּשֶׁנֶּחֱרָב אַסְקֻפַּת הַבַּיִת אוֹ פְּתָחֶיהָ הוּא סִימָן רָע לַבַּיִת.

17. When the threshold of a house, or its entrances are destroyed, it is an evil omen for the house.


## Segment 18

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

לָדוּר בַּעֲלִיָּה הוּא טוֹב יוֹתֵר לַעֲבוֹדַת הַבּוֹרֵא מִלָּדוּר בְּבַיִת תַּחְתּוֹן.

1. Living on the upper floor of a house is more conducive to serving G-d than living in the bottom floor.


## Segment 19

לִפְעָמִים בִּנְיַן הַבַּיִת גּוֹרֵם לָאִשָּׁה שֶׁלֹּא תֵּלֵד, כְּשֶׁהָעֵצִים שֶׁבַּבִּנְיָן אֵינָם מֻנָּחִים כַּסֵּדֶר הַנִּתַּן לָהֶם מִשֵּׁשֶׁת יְמֵי בְרֵאשִׁית, וְאָז הַבַּיִת נִקְרָא הָרוּס אֲפִלּוּ בְּבִנְיָנוֹ, וְהֶהָרוּס הַזֶּה בָּא וּמַזִּיק לָאִשָּׁה וְאֵינָהּ מוֹלֶדֶת.

2. Sometimes the construction of the house prevents a woman from conceiving, as when the beams are not placed according to their order from the Six Days of Creation. In such a case, the house is as if it were destroyed, even though it is standing. This destruction comes and harms the woman, and she does not conceive.


## Segment 20

בְּפֶתַח בֵּיתוֹ שֶׁל אָדָם נִכָּר, אִם תַּמּוּ זְכוּת אֲבוֹתָיו אוֹ אִם חָלָה זְכוּת אֲבוֹתָיו.

3. At the entrance to a man's house it is discernible if his ancestral merit has finished, or if his ancestral merit is effective.


## Segment 21

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

צָרִיךְ לְהִזָּהֵר בְּבִנְיְנֵי הַבַּיִת, שֶׁלֹּא יִהְיֶה בְּבִנְיָנוֹ עֵץ מֵאִילָנוֹת הָעוֹשִׂין פֵּרוֹת.

4. One needs to be careful, in the building of a house, that it should not have in its construction, wood from trees that produce fruit.


## Segment 22

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

הָעֵצִים שֶׁבַּבִּנְיָן, זָכָה אָדָם הֵם בִּבְחִינַת "שְׂרָפִים עוֹמְדִים", וְעוֹמֵד הַבִּנְיָן זְמַן רַב, לֹא זָכָה – הַשְּׂרָפִים נִשְׂרָפִים, וְזֶהוּ הַשְּׂרֵפוֹת דִּשְׁכִיחֵי.

5. The lumber that is in a structure, if a man merits, it will be in the aspect of “fiery angels standing” (Isaiah 6:2), and the structure will stand for a long time. If he does not merit – the fiery angels are burned, and thus, the fires that abound.


## Segment 23

כְּשֶׁאָדָם בּוֹנֶה חוֹמָה וְנוֹפֵל כִּפָּתוֹ, יֵדַע שֶׁזֶּה סִימָן רַע, חַס וְשָׁלוֹם, לְזַרְעוֹ.

6. When a man builds a wall, and its capstone falls, he should know that this is an evil omen for his progeny.


## Segment 24

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

אֵין אָדָם נֶהֱנֶה אֶלָּא כְּשֶׁדָּר בַּמָּקוֹם שֶׁדָּרוּ אֲבוֹתָיו.

7. A man does not find satisfaction (lit. enjoy or benefit) unless he dwells in a place where his forefathers dwelled.


## Segment 25

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

סְגֻלָּה כְּשֶׁנִּכְנָס לְבַיִת חָדָשׁ לָגוּר, יַכְנִיס לְשָׁם חֶרֶב אוֹ סַכִּין אוֹ שְׁאָר כְּלֵי־זַיִן. וְסִימָן לַדָּבָר: בְּחָכְמָה יִבָּנֶה בַּיִת. כְּ'לֵי חָ'מָס מְ'כֵרוֹתֵיהֶם; חַרְבוֹתֵיהֶם, מְגוּרוֹתֵיהֶם.

8. It is a segulah (-auspicious), when one moves into a new house to live, to bring in a sword, knife, or other weapon. A sign for this: "With wisdom the house will be built. (Mishlei - Proverbs 24:3)" "Wisdom" is the acronym for the passage, "Extorted trade are their weapons.” (Bereshit 49:5)." The word "their trade" from this passage shares two definitions, "their swords" and "their dwellings" (-as both variations are explained in Rashi there, t.n.).


## Segment 26

הַכִּפָּה שֶׁל בַּיִת הוּא סִימָן לַחֲבוּרָה אוֹ מִשְׁפָּחָה מַה שֶּׁיִּקְרֶה לָהֶם.

9. The cap of a house is a sign for the group or family, concerning what will happen to them.
