## Segment 1

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

עִיר שֶׁיֵּשׁ בָּהּ שְׁבוּעוֹת תֶּחֱרַב וְתֵהָרֵס חַס וְשָׁלוֹם.

1. A city in which there are oaths will be ruined and destroyed, G-d forbid.


## Segment 2

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

עַל־יְדֵי שְׁבוּעוֹת שֶׁקֶר נוֹפְלִים מֵאֱמוּנָה.

2. Through false oaths, [people] fall from faith.


## Segment 3

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

לִמּוּד מַסֶּכֶת שְׁבוּעוֹת מְסֻגָּל לִירִידַת הַגֶּשֶׁם.

3. Learning the [Talmud] tractate Shavuot [Oaths] is conducive to (bring) rainfall.


## Segment 4

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

עַל־יְדֵי שְׁבוּעַת שֶׁקֶר בָּאִין הִרְהוּרֵי נִאוּף.

4. Through a false oath comes thoughts of lewdness.


## Segment 5

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

מִי שֶׁהוּא רָגִיל בִּשְׁבוּעוֹת, מַחֲשָׁבוֹת רָעוֹת בָּאִים לוֹ תָּמִיד.

5. Someone who is accustomed to (making) oaths, evil thoughts come to him constantly.


## Segment 6

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

עַל־יְדֵי הַעֲבָרַת הַשְּׁבוּעָה אֵין תְּקוּמָה בְּמִלְחָמָה.

6. Through transgressing an oath, there is no stance in war.


## Segment 7

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

מִי שֶׁעוֹבֵר עַל הַשְּׁבוּעָה, בְּיָדוּעַ שֶׁאֵינוֹ מְכַבֵּד יִרְאֵי הַשֵּׁם.

7. Someone who transgresses an oath, it is certain that he does not honor the G-d fearing.


## Segment 8

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

עַל כָּל עֲבֵרוֹת שֶׁבַּתּוֹרָה נִפְרָעִין מִמֶּנּוּ; וְכָאן – מִמֶּנּוּ וּמִמִּשְׁפַּחְתּוֹ וּמִכָּל הָעוֹלָם כֻּלּוֹ, וּמִמֶּנּוּ נִפְרָעִין לְאַלְתַּר.

8. For all the sins in the Torah, they take retribution from him; and here [regarding oath transgressions]; from him, and from his family, and from the whole world, and from him they take retribution immediately.


## Segment 9

דְבָרִים – שֶׁאֵין אֵשׁ וּמַיִם מְכַלִּין אוֹתָם, שְׁבוּעוֹת שֶׁקֶר מְכַלִּין אוֹתָן.

9. Things which (even) fire and water do not annihilate, false oaths annihilate them.


## Segment 10

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

מַלְאָךְ גַּבְרִיאֵל הוּא מְמֻנֶּה עַל הַשְּׂרֵפָה לִשְׂרֹף, גַּם לְהַצִּיל.

10. The angel Gavriel is appointed over fire, to burn and also to save.
