# Benefit From Others

## Segment 1

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

מַה שֶּׁהַצַּדִּיק מְקַבֵּל מָמוֹן מֵהָרָשָׁע, אַף־עַל־פִּי שֶׁזֶּה הַמָּמוֹן הוּא סָפֵק גֶּזֶל, אַף־עַל־פִּי־כֵן מֻתָּר לְקַבֵּל מִמֶּנּוּ, כְּדֵי שֶּׁלֹּא יְקַבֵּל הָרָשָׁע לְעַצְמוֹ אֵיזֶהוּ תַּלְמִיד חָכָם רָשָׁע, וְיֹּאמַר עָלָיו שֶׁהוּא צַדִּיק, וְיִתֵּן לוֹ הַמָּמוֹן, וְיַחֲלֹק עַל הַצַּדִּיק הָאֱמֶת.

1. When a Tzaddik accepts money from a wicked person, even if the money is possibly stolen, it is permitted for the Tzaddik to accept it, so that the wicked one will not take on some wicked Torah scholar, claiming that the scholar is a Tzaddik, giving him the money, and he will oppose the True Tzaddik.


## Segment 2

מִשֶּׁרַבּוּ מְקַבְּלֵי מַתָּנוֹת, נִתְמַעֲטוּ הַיָּמִים וְנִתְקַצְּרוּ הַשָּׁנִים.

2. Since the proliferation of those who accept gifts, days have become diminished and years shortened.


## Segment 3

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

אָדָם – שֶׁקִּבַּלְתָּ הֲנָאָה מִמֶּנּוּ פַּעַם אֶחָד, אַל תְּבַזֵּהוּ.

3. A person who you received benefit from one time - do not humiliate him.


## Segment 4

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

מִי שֶׁמַּכְבִּיד עֻלּוֹ עַל בְּנֵי־יִשְׂרָאֵל, לְסוֹף שֶׁנִּצְרָךְ לַאֲחֵרִים.

4. One who weighs his clout on the Jewish people ends up being needy of others.


## Segment 5

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

מִי שֶׁעוֹשֶׂה טוֹבוֹת לִבְנֵי־אָדָם, מֻתָּר לוֹ לֵהָנוֹת מֵהֶם וּצְרִיכִים לְשָׁרְתוֹ.

5. One who does favors for others is permitted to benefit from them, and they ought to serve him.


## Segment 6

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

עַל־יְדֵי הֲנָאָה שֶׁאַתָּה מְקַבֵּל מֵחֲבֶרְךָ, עַל־יְדֵי זֶה אַתָּה סוֹבֵל צַעַר עַל עֲווֹנוֹתָיו.

6. Through the benefit you receive from your fellow man, through this you suffer pain due to his sins.


## Segment 7

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

מִי שֶׁאֵינוֹ מְקַבֵּל מָמוֹן מֵאֲחֵרִים, יְגַדֵּל כָּל זַרְעוֹ.

7. One who does not accept money from others, raise all his children.


## Segment 8

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

הַמֶּלֶךְ גּוֹבֶה יְצִיאוֹתָיו מִן הָעָם.

8. The King funds his expenditures from the people.


## Segment 9

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

צָרִיךְ לַעֲסֹק בְּאֵיזֶה מַשָּׂא־וּמַתָּן, כְּדֵי שֶׁלֹּא יִצְטָרֵךְ לְסוֹף לְבַטֵּל מִדִּבְרֵי תוֹרָה.

9. One must be involved in some form of business, in order that ultimately he will not need arrest the study of (lit. words of) Torah.


## Segment 10

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

מִי שֶׁשּׁוֹאֵל חֶלְקוֹ בְּפִיו, כְּאִלּוּ גָּזַל.

10. One who asks for his portion verbally is as if he had stolen.


## Segment 11

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

הַמְצַפֶּה לְשֻׁלְחַן חֲבֵרוֹ, עוֹלָם חָשַׁךְ בַּעֲדוֹ גַּם חַיָּיו אֵינָם חַיִּים.

11. One who is reliant on his friend's table, his world is darkened, and his life is not considered life.


## Segment 12

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

מִי שֶׁיֵּשׁ לוֹ נְשָׁמָה, הוּא נֶהֱנֶה מֵרֵיחַ.

12. One who has a Neshamah (3rd level of the Jewish soul), he has pleasure from scent.


## Segment 13

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

גְּדוֹלָה יְגִיעַ כַּפּוֹ, שֶׁמַּצִּיל אֶת הָאָדָם מֵהֲרִיגָה.

1. Great is [the benefit from] the work of one's own hands, for it saves a man from killing.


## Segment 14

<div dir="rtl" lang="he">

מִי שֶׁהוּא שׂוֹנֵא מַתָּנוֹת, אֵינוֹ מִתְיָרֵא מֵעֲלִילוֹת.

2. One who hates (accepting) gifts does not fear from false accusations.
