And the apparent intent of his meaning was that he wanted us to be engaged in mitzvos as well — namely, to collect donations and to engage in acts of kindness and the like. And he said to us in this language: \"Epis tut ir gor keyn mitzvohs nit?\" — \"Do you not perform any mitzvos at all?\" And his intention was as mentioned above."
