אפיקורסות נקראת משא כמו שכתב רש"י על "משאכם" (דברים א יב) מלמד שהיו בהם אפיקורסים. על כן כשנוסע להצדיק הוא משליך מעליו משאוי גדולה כי מאחר שנוסע כבר יש לו אמונה שהוא הפך האפיקורסות. (סז):

Heresy [apikorsus] is called a "burden" [masah], as Rashi wrote on [Deuteronomy 1:12]: *"your massa"* — this teaches that there were heretics among them. Therefore when one travels to the *Tzadik* he casts off from himself a great burden, because since he is traveling he already has faith which is the opposite of heresy.[67]
