Chapter Sixty-Five: Six Gold Liras שְׁמוֹנֶה עֶשְׂרֵה גְּרוּשׁ Source: https://ajew.org/reader/yisroel-saba/1/65 Segment 1 HE: רַק אֲנַחְנוּ - עַם קָדוֹשׁ! EN: There was an event. A Chassid told me that his father got married, and six years after the wedding his parents had no children. EN: He — Rabbi Yisroel Kardoner — was in Meron. His father came to Rabbi Yisroel and said in these words: "I got married and it has already been six years and I have no children." EN: They were great opponents — the grandfather and the family. But the parents did not listen to them. They went to Rabbi Yisroel and told him they were already six years after the wedding with no children. So Rabbi Yisroel said to him: "Give me six gold liras!" Six gold liras was very expensive… EN: Rabbi Yisroel did not say much — he spoke briefly: "I need to give six liras to the printer. Give me six liras — that is enough!" Rabbi Yisroel did not say to this man that he would have children. EN: And so it was. He gave Rabbi Yisroel immediately all the money — to print Rabbenu's books. Six gold coins… And the son was born. The son was born — and until today he lives with the six liras. He is now already eighty years old (laughs)… EN: I remember that I and the son who was born were friends in the yeshiva. His father was the only one — and they were all opponents. But the father gave the money to Rabbi Yisroel: six gold coins. And children were born to him — six children…
