EN: (Rabbi Yisroel speaks on the subject of spreading Rabbenu's holy books, after his visit to the President's house…) EN: One sees that "in every place incense is offered and presented to My name." One sees the wonders of the Creator — such new wonders as have never been in the world. This is Rabbenu. He is new and renews us — the entire world — and repairs the entire world! And one sees that there is no such thing in the entire world — that anyone would have such a name — that all would acknowledge and say: "Only Rabbi Nachman — this is the essential and foundation of the world." One sees that all — all the people, all the world — draw themselves toward Rabbenu Rabbi Nachman. And this is not for nothing. There are wondrous matters in this that we do not know. Suddenly Rabbi Nachman became famous — and this Petek that was a secret for sixty years became known. The entire world did not know of it — it was found and through a miracle became known now. One sees that Hashem guides the world toward the spreading of Rabbenu — what comes from even some small matter: what comes from this is beyond attainment! EN: I was seventy years ago — you do not know what was. I see what Breslov was then — and what it is now. And so one perceives with feeling that the redemption draws very near. It approaches — and we must print and serve Hashem in emunah through these Torah teachings and these stories. Stories like these — there are none in the world! Conversations like these — none! The Likutay Halachos, the Likutay Aytzos — we are sleeping. We must day and night always be occupied with this — to be filled and overflowing from the mouth. And this is the essential of all our repair — our hope. And all that we speak of does not even reach a drop from the sea of this matter! EN: Our holy Rabbenu said: "When Mashiach comes — all the yeshivos will study Rabbenu's books! And all the scholars will be nullified and shamed!" EN: Every word of the Likutay Moharan and the Sipuray Maasiyos — of the conversations, the Likutay Halachos, the Likutay Aytzos, Ebay HaNachal [Blossoms of the Stream] — and also every book: what this is — what we have — what is in the world! The entire world does not know what this is. This will renew the entire world — repair and renew the entire world. "All will accept upon themselves the yoke of Your sovereignty." There will be such wonders in the world that the entire world — all the nations — will convert. Yes. There will be such wonders that all will see with their eyes Hashem and the Torah and the emunah. EN: Rabbenu Rabbi Nachman is the root and the essential. Every Torah teaching — every word — every story — every conversation he revealed in the world: this is all our life-force and our hope. Through the power of every word he revealed in the world — what exists from him and from his student Rav Noson — the Likutay Halachos, the Likutay Moharan: every word of theirs is the repair of the entire world. And through this Mashiach will come and there will be the complete redemption! EN: Until now Breslov was a counterfeit coin — all distanced themselves: the scholars and geniuses and great ones — they distanced themselves from Breslov. They thought they were great. But in Breslov — one word illuminates the entire world — each and every person. EN: One must publicize that the essential of redemption depends on Rabbenu Rabbi Nachman — to draw close to him. What does it mean to draw close? To study his books and fulfill them. Then the complete redemption will come. On this depends the essential of our redemption and the entire world's. This is the essential of the service — for the essential of what Rabbenu revealed is such truth as there is no truth like it in the world. And also his true followers — they have a share in this. For this is the essential of what we must fight and overcome all the enemies — for all the redemption depends on Rabbenu Rabbi Nachman. That we merit to draw close to him and study his books in truth and fulfill them — this will be revealed and will guide us in all the Torah. Each one can see what the Likutay Tfilos is, what the Likutay Moharan is, what the Likutay Halachos is, what the Likutay Aytzos is. One can see and understand that stories like these there are none in the world — none have been. Only Mashiach will expound a commentary on the stories — and also on the Likutay Moharan. EN: Our holy Rabbenu said: "I have already prepared everything for Mashiach." He has already prepared for us all the salvations — all that we need. But we pay no attention. So the redemption is in the world and is not known. Only the entire world draws itself toward Rabbenu — and they will say that this is the redemption. One perceives with feeling that the controversy that was over Breslov — this was the matter of the redemption. It has been cooking since the time our holy Rabbenu was in the world. Cooking, cooking, cooking… EN: (Rabbi Yisroel was asked what we are obligated to do in order to hasten the redemption.) EN: To occupy oneself with Psalms — with the Likutay Tfilos — and with the service of Hashem. This is drawing close to redemption — according to Rabbenu's understanding. Without Rabbenu — nothing. He is the essential and the secret and the foundation and the root. Everything depends on Rabbenu. All the redemption — the coming of Mashiach and all our repair — the repair of the entire world: depends on Rabbenu! EN: This is the life-force of all the people of Israel and of all the world — the repair of the entire world. This is a new matter: the matter of the complete redemption after which there will be no exile. There were redemptions and after them came exile — but now this redemption: after it there will be no more exile. And there will be such miracles and wonders in the world and such revelation that the entire world will draw close to Hashem. And all the wicked ones and the atheists and the distant ones will have repair — as much as possible — repair through Rabbenu. EN: Now the world is in darkness — exile. We have distanced very much. But Rabbenu Rabbi Nachman draws close the entire world — even those who seem unable to be drawn close in any way in the world. Everything depends on him: that the people draw close to him and not look at the rabbis and the opponents. EN: Truth — no power in the world can stand against truth. We see that Rabbenu Rabbi Nachman is one singular person — and he asks nothing of the entire world. He does what he does. There is already such Likutay Moharan and such Likutay Halachos — such stories and such conversations. And they suffice for us to return the entire world to complete repentance and to serve Hashem in truth. And this is the essential of the redemption: the books of Rabbenu Rabbi Nachman — to study and to fulfill. Then there will be another world — a new world! Our holy Rabbenu will draw the entire world close to Hashem and to Torah. Oy vey… EN: Our holy Rabbenu commanded to print so much — that the entire world be filled: every house, every place with Rabbenu's books. Yes — so Rabbenu commanded. This is accepted tradition. He warned us to print and print and print. And Rav Noson and all Rabbenu's people sacrificed themselves for this. Rav Noson said before his passing on Friday the Tenth of Teves — before the soul's departure: "One page from Rabbenu's books will uproot all the evil from the world! All the darkness from the world! And so be strong with money and effort and in every matter — only to print books. Only to print!" For this we must sacrifice ourselves to bring Rabbenu into the world — this is the essential! EN: Now we must think and give all our strength to this. We must constantly renew ourselves and seek good friends — and have mercy on ourselves and on our descendants and on the entire world. Each person — bring whatever strength he has with his family to this place: to illuminate in the world the light of Rabbenu. This will be a new world! EN: Ahh! We need good friends. And we too must constantly speak — speak before the world of Rabbenu, may his memory be blessed — to bring them to Rabbenu. This is such compassion as cannot be described! Where are we! Where are we! Where are our families — our descendants — where! Where are we! How can we sleep if such words — such a revelation — are already in the world! I want to print. This is all words of the living G-d that have not yet been revealed in the world. Do you not feel what this does in a person? There has never been in the world such a wonder: that it renews in every moment — renews and strengthens and heals. There has never been such a thing! And the essential wonder: that such words can be spoken in this world. EN: What compassion for each and every one of Israel! What — there is already in the world such Likutay Tfilos — such Likutay Moharan — such Likutay Halachos — and the Sipuray Maasiyos and such lights. How can we sleep! EN: We must make a large gathering and consider all manner of counsel — to have mercy on ourselves and on our descendants and on the entire world. To see what this is. Have there ever been such words in the world?! EN: One should deposit the money in the bank and sell little by little — to bring into every house some book. For all the generations. We must arrange this — speak of it — counsel how to do it: that it truly be in emunah. Let us form a group and open a store for the whole world. We must be the first soldiers — to run into the fire — to run and conquer the entire world! Rabbenu, may his memory be blessed, is the redemption for all the people of Israel… EN: Oy vey, oy vey, oy vey — I have not the strength to cry out so much. What does the world think — for what was the world created? For money — for desires?! What is this! EN: What will happen now is beyond everything. There have never been such innovations. [In Yiddish:] "Such a thing has never been since the world was created — this will be the complete redemption: to print Rabbenu's books." I could expire from the greatness of the healings destined to come to the world through Rabbenu. What will be from us — he will repair us all! EN: Hoy — what is now in the world: such light as has never been since the day of creation. There will be a new world — an entirely different world. I want to print Rabbenu's books, may his memory be blessed. The essential is the printing — the essential is to spread: that every house have Rabbenu's books. Today even children and girls can read. Then there will be a generation of tzadikim. Strengthen yourselves with strong will to bring the light of the books into every house in Israel. From this will come the complete redemption. EN: We must print the words of Rabbenu — that the entire world and all of Israel be filled. The gentiles are not in the accounting — they are not humans. There is no accounting at all. Is there an accounting with a rooster?! EN: The entire world will be occupied with Rabbenu's books. Only we must give our hearts to bring all our life-force to this. Only to print and print and print — to fill every house, every house, every child, every girl with Rabbenu's books. Then there will be an entirely different world — a new world! EN: Each one who has some money: only for this — to print Rabbenu's books and fill all the houses, all the surroundings, every place with Rabbenu's books. This will bring such light as has never been. You too — bring all the money you have only to print Rabbi Nachman's books. Through this there will be a new world! EN: I have no money whatsoever. My money is only for Rabbenu. I do not use the money I receive from the government — from National Insurance. They give me as they give all the elderly — every month. All the money I receive: it is all dedicated to the printing of Rabbenu's books. I receive nothing from it! Hashem knows and witnesses that I am ready and prepared to sacrifice my life and my possessions and all that I have for this matter — to draw some Jewish soul close to Hashem. Or at minimum to plant within him some thought of repentance — even for just one single moment! EN: We must sacrifice all our souls and our descendants for this — that there be in every place Rabbenu's books, may his memory be blessed. Then there will be the complete redemption — a redemption such as has never been! We must sacrifice our souls and our children and our families and all our strength. Everything: our holy Rabbenu! EN: Oy vey, oy vey — what will be now — what has never been in all the generations. Since the day of creation there has never been such light. Now the world will draw close to Rabbenu and will see how much we need Rabbenu! All Rabbenu's books — every word of his is our complete redemption. Every word of his. This is something new — never yet been in the world: a sign of the redemption of now. If the world had received this — there would already have been the redemption! But everything is from Hashem. In any case now we must sacrifice ourselves to print and bring Rabbenu's words into the world — to bring into our hearts and our eyes with all our strength: our holy Rabbenu. And to rely upon him — on everything he says. Everything! EN: We cannot live or eat. How can we rest and sleep amid such sorrows and troubles of the people of Israel! EN: This I saw from Rabbi Yisroel Kardoner. And I myself felt the troubles more than today. And if I found someone who wanted to draw close to Rabbenu — I sacrificed myself. I did not look at livelihood — not at the family. Only to draw him close. There is no greater compassion than this. Even one person who draws close to Rabbenu — this is drawing the redemption near. This is known to all. EN: When I was young I spoke much of Rabbenu to the world — and blessed be Hashem there were many true ba'alei teshuvah. And also now I do everything possible. This is the essential root and repair of all of Israel — of each and every one as he is. And he heals and strengthens and revives us. It cannot be described — it cannot be estimated. EN: I spoke with you a little — but I: I still need more, more, more, more. Oy — if we had even just one page of the Likutay Tfilos… EN: Every word of Rabbenu, may his memory be blessed, is all the Torah and all the mitzvos and all that is good! EN: Our holy Rabbenu is the essential of everything — the essential of Torah — the essential of emunah — the essential of repentance — the essential of everything. He heals — he strengthens — and he said that he can heal even a sick person for whom there is no healing! EN: The essential is the redemption. Every word of the Sipuray Maasiyos — of the Likutay Moharan — the Likutay Halachos. Now there will be books upon books — by the thousands. For the entire world there will be books. There will be such light in the world as has never been. Mashiach will already find everything ready and prepared… EN: (A Chassid tells Rabbi Yisroel about his friend who is about to be drafted into the army.) EN: For what? That he be a soldier at Rabbenu's. However much he is more bound to Rabbenu and goes in Rabbenu's ways — the more soldiers he will bring to Rabbenu. EN: When Mashiach comes there will be a beautiful wedding — there will be such joy. They will tell stories from each person: what passed over him. Rabbenu's students are such soldiers — such heroes! They fight against the entire world. Heroes! And also our holy Rabbenu said: "To draw close to me" (and Rabbi Yisroel indicated with the palm of his hand upon his heart) "— this is very hard. More than the hardest test!" EN: Oy yoy yoy — all of this will be stories. And the stories will be told at the coming of Mashiach. Our holy Rabbenu said: "When Mashiach comes there will be many stories from each of my people — there will be many stories." One of Rabbenu's people weighed against the entire world — against all the great ones! The holy Baal Shem Tov had sixty heroic students — all of them had holy spirit and were very holy tzadikim. Our holy Rabbenu spoke of this. When our holy Rabbenu came from Eretz Yisroel he said: "The Baal Shem Tov had sixty students and they were sixty heroes. I also need sixty heroes." Nu — it is written: "He does the will of those who fear Him." So why did Rabbenu not have sixty heroes — sixty students? So I said: our holy Rabbenu reveals and hints to us that we had Rav Noson — one. And he weighed against all the heroes. Our holy Rabbenu said what he needed — and he had it: he had Rav Noson! EN: (Rabbi Yisroel was asked about the method of spreading the books for a specific person.) EN: The matter of Rabbenu, may his memory be blessed, is to draw close — not to distance. If that person has discouragement and will be shamed — this is not good. EN: I bless him that Hashem give him blessing and salvation — that he merit to draw close to Rabbenu and know what we have from this world: such wisdom — such life as there is none in the world. May Hashem give him all good — all salvations. This is all the salvations: the holy Torah — to print Rabbenu's books. This is the life-force of the entire world! EN: (Rabbi Yisroel responds and strengthens a Chassid who had discouragement regarding spreading the books.) EN: Whatever you do — do it! Do not fear that you are not doing well. This surpasses everything — surpasses all the mitzvos of all the Torah. Whatever one does for Rabbenu — to bring Rabbenu into the world: this is such a wondrous matter as has never been. Many more will come to you — many more who will go with books to sell — to bring into every house. This is an easy and good thing. EN: I will go with you on foot. I walked alone on foot — even when my feet were sick — and I walked. Now I need my feet every day to go from house to house to sell the books. We will conquer four houses — five houses — we will go. There are many houses. The whole country must be filled — every place — in all the yeshivos and everywhere. It will be written in all the newspapers: there is now a new fashion in Eretz Yisroel. Everyone will want only to sell Rabbenu's books. The world will be filled — filled! Every person needs books — each and every one. Also for his children he needs books — for the boys and the girls. There will be livelihood and all good. Such a time will come — it will come. It goes and hastens — growing stronger every day more and more and more. EN: Children will come and say: "Perhaps there is a book of Sipuray Maasiyos? We want to read! Give me — give me — give me!" EN: There will be a dispute: each one will say "I came first!" And when they do not know who came first — they will need to investigate and clarify. There will be rejoicing in all the streets — in every place. There will be great joy — they will dance. Only dancing! EN: We need some automobiles and students who will learn to drive. One must write on the car: "New fashion — sale of books by Rabbenu Nachman!" This is something new. EN: We must go to all the places — throughout all of Yerushalayim and all of Eretz Yisroel: to announce, to announce, to announce! All the liars will fall — for they will be very ashamed. They will ask: "What is there to announce?" They do not know what to announce. We — blessed be Hashem — already know what there is to announce… EN: There is one friend who has a car. At night he does not need it — so he can give us his car. Even during the day: whenever he does not need it he will give it. We will travel throughout all of Eretz Yisroel all day and all night with a loudspeaker — playing melodies — making a commotion! We will make a commotion that there is Rabbi Nachman of Breslov in the world. And also whoever knows how to play: melodies are very good. Only the essential is truth. Truth and emunah. And also we can dance in all the streets — in every place — in every city — in every village. At the traffic lights when there is a red light — we will stop and dance. Money there will be — money will not be lacking. Everything needed is ready. Our holy Rabbenu has already prepared everything for the redemption — for all the redemptions — for all the salvations. The matter of Rabbenu is entirely different: there will be the light of Mashiach! Contact the President's office and say that I requested a meeting immediately and at once! I want to go to him where he lives and remind him that he said this. We will go to his office — if he is there I will speak with him. If he is not there I will wait for him — that he fulfill what came out of his mouth: "We will do whatever you ask — immediately and at once! We will give you everything!" So I want him to fulfill this. He will record it immediately and give at once all that he promised: a large, good and spacious apartment for the sale and printing of Rabbenu Rabbi Nachman's books. He knows this is a great essential — that this is the essential of the redemption. He accepts this — and he told me he would do so. Do this with great holiness — with mesiras nefesh: a place for the books of Rabbenu Rabbi Nachman. The entire redemption depends on this. I want to complete this matter. I thought: "What — such tears from the eyes: this is terrible — it takes away the light of one's eyes." I did not need to think about tears — the tears came out by themselves from the greatness of the sorrow I had. "What is the money for?" But how does one stop the crying? They only say Mashiach has come — but when Mashiach comes there will be another world — such a world! A new world. EN: Blessed be Hashem that we merit to hear and receive such words. This is already the redemption. All the redemption depends on Rabbenu — everything, everything: the coming of Mashiach and everything. Yes — as it was hard for me: how will the redemption come? There are no books to buy. Even if there is some book — they are afraid to touch it. Perhaps they will suspect him of leaning toward Breslov. So how will the redemption come? But I did not despair. I had great longings — as my heart says to me: "No, no — do not despair! The time will come!" And I could not bear the foul odor of their pride — their falsehood. They were the greatest opponents of Breslov. I remember how they were at the highest level — who could have thought they would fall? They were above in the heavens. And I saw and knew that they would fall, fall, fall. They descended entirely, entirely — beneath the earth. Blessed be Hashem that I came out of them. Blessed be Hashem — I am alive! And the truth will overcome and be clarified forever and ever. One sees changes — such changes! That the matter of Rabbenu has been revealed now in the world more than at any time. Our holy Rabbenu has been revealed in the world and rises and rises and rises and rises. Blessed be Hashem — now everything is reversed: they descend and we ascend. The honor is with us — the lowliness and the humiliation is with them. Falsehood in the end descends and falls and falls. And truth rises and rises. Breslov rises from day to day — from year to year — from moment to moment. One word from Rabbenu — it conquers the entire world! One word! EN: In Yerushalayim there was Rav Shlomo Wexler — and there was no Breslov synagogue. He prayed by the opponents — and they gave nothing at all to Rav Shlomo. He was an angel of Hashem — he was a holy man. There was Batei Machseh near the Western Wall. Rav Shlomo Wexler and all our friends would always draw close to the Western Wall and beseech mercy for the people of Israel. There were great fears from the gentiles — and they went to the Wall. They went and were saved. And I saw that Rav Chaim Zonnenfeld rose before Rav Shlomo — as before a king — as before an angel! I was a neighbor of the chief rabbi. And now I do not want to hear from them. Such pride — Heaven forbid! They received all the money from America and did not give me even a piece of bread for the children. Not bread — not to drink — I had nothing. It is impossible to describe what kind of face I had among them. I was distant from them and I was heroic — heroic! In Teveriah there was Yisroel Ber Odesser and everyone laughed at me. And now — I laugh at all of them! I can boast: I was one singular person and stood against the entire world. I merited to overcome all of them and to conquer them. I merited to overcome everything — the entire world! All of them against me. I remained alone — a hundred years old. There is no one a hundred years old — there is no one seventy years old. We had no soldiers — no money — no weapons. We have conquered all of Eretz Yisroel — and this is only the beginning! We are building Israel. Nothing remains — only Breslov. EN: The entire world will know that in the world there is only Breslov. They will have heartache over having been opponents of Breslov. The greater the liar — the greater the scholar. The liars do not receive. They thought they could study — but this was falsehood. Against our holy Rabbenu they cannot speak even one word. They are as deaf before our holy Rabbenu — they do not know even one word. The entire world was not even worth anything at all — literally zero entirely — compared to our holy Rabbenu. EN: They saw that we are people of truth. Even the opponents knew that Breslov people are people of truth. And blessed be Hashem — today throughout the entire world: even the Sephardim love Breslov and want Breslov. EN: If I had spoken such words one or two years ago — they would have destroyed me. They would have expelled me to the desert: "Go — go from here! Go to your place — your place is not among us." And I had not yet spoken even a drop from the sea. The world did not know and did not want to know of Breslov. All were submerged in all the desires and wanted to be proud ones — they opposed it. But truth is the power that conquers everything! I lived and saw such wonders — who can estimate — who can tell. In all of Tsfas and throughout the entire world they were against Breslov. But now one sees that Hashem performed miracles and wonders — the entire world speaks of Rabbenu: "Only Rabbenu — Rabbenu — Rabbenu!" EN: Blessed be Hashem that we merited to what we merited — to the time of the redemption. Now is the time of the redemption: they descend and fall. The opponents — they are beginning to feel and be ashamed and fall. And we rise and rise every day at every moment. All the opponents have passed away — died. And the opponents today have good children. If they had seen their children — they would have killed them, beaten them: "What — you want Breslov? One needs Chassidus like ours!" And the children would say: "No — we want only Breslov!" EN: There is one who came from the opponents' Chassidus and came to us. And the father and mother and family want to kill him — and he did not listen to them. Now from day to day new ones come and say: "Ho — Breslov is good!" Now we see that it has reversed: the new generation now says to all the rabbis: "We want only Breslov!" EN: The opponents are ashamed before him — they are very ashamed. "What is this — Breslov?" EN: Today everyone says: "Yes, yes — only Breslov! Breslov! Breslov! If you are not Breslov — go, go from us!" Today everyone loves Breslov — everyone wants Breslov. Now Breslov is holy in the world and there is no fear at all to be Breslov. This is only the beginning! Mashiach will come and such truth will be revealed in the world — all will do complete repentance. All will have a complete repair. Our holy Rabbenu will repair the entire world… EN: Our holy Rabbenu came into the world to reveal the truth — that desires are nothing and money is nothing. He came into the world to nullify from the world the evil inclination — the desires of the world and money. He merited that all fell and will be entirely nullified against every word of his. The Likutay Moharan and the Sipuray Maasiyos — one sees these are a novelty in the world. Such Likutay Tfilos — such stories: are there yet in the world?! Segment 140 HE: הַכֹּל בִּשְׁבִילֵנוּ! EN: The entire world opposed Rabbenu. But our holy Rabbenu says in the Sefer HaMidos: "The Holy One blessed be He — His opinion always inclines toward the majority. But if they are wicked — His opinion does not incline toward them." The world was overcoming our holy Rabbenu — and he says: "I have conquered and I will conquer. I have finished and I will finish." Nu — what do you say to this? And he already felled them all — through his holy words alone that he spoke. He had the power to show the entire world that they are liars. Truth is powerful — and it overcomes the entire world. From the entire world he has finished — he took them out of the desires. Yes. The entire world — all the wise men — all the geniuses: he will send them downward. "I have finished and I will finish — I have conquered and I will conquer!" EN: Blessed be Hashem — I suffered and had no piece of bread — not I and not my children. But I am very strong and I stand against the entire world — as if they do not exist in the world. Entirely nothing. They do not know even one word of Rabbenu — they know nothing of what this is. I was the worst of all — the most simple. And all of them were great scholars. And I was strong against the entire world and studied Breslov books with force — with strength of hand. And blessed be Hashem I conquered them — all of them — the entire world! Truth has such power that it conquers the entire world! He is found in every heart of a Jew. He teaches all of Israel the way to serve Hashem in truth. The Likutay Tfilos and the Sipuray Maasiyos and the Likutay Moharan and the Likutay Halachos: who can estimate what every word does in the world! Only the Likutay Tfilos — the Likutay Halachos — the Likutay Aytzos — what we have: such healings one does not see in the world. They existed in the world — but they did not want to touch them — did not want to know. But now it is beginning to be revealed in the world. Our holy Rabbenu has begun to conquer the entire world — and he conquers the entire world in one moment — with one word. One sees that everything has transformed to good — all want only Breslov. EN: Rabbi Yisroel Kardoner came from Chevron to Teveriah and found me in Teveriah. I do not know anything at all — but this I do know: that Rabbi Yisroel was in Chevron and he came to Teveriah and found me in Teveriah. This I know. EN: He was in Chevron for a year. Then he left Chevron and came to Teveriah — and there was a bond between us. He was a wondrous person — Rabbi Yisroel. He had a righteous wife and children: one son and several daughters. The one son was named Mordechai. And among the daughters there was a righteous daughter named Esther. He had Mordechai and Esther. And I came every time and we studied the Likutay Moharan together and spoke of Rabbenu. And he was not far from his bar mitzvah — and he passed away. He died some days before Rabbi Yisroel — and he is buried next to Rabbi Yisroel. And Rabbi Yisroel also had a daughter named Esther. She was such a righteous one — such a holy one — as I have never heard of or seen such a thing in my life! She was — a light. A great light — a holy light. EN: I remember that Rabbi Yisroel suddenly came to Teveriah without Esther. He came to me and said: "My daughter Esther has passed away!" As if nothing at all had happened. He came to Teveriah and left Esther in Tsfas. He sat beside me in the synagogue and said: "My daughter Esther has passed away in Tsfas" — as if she had gone to the wedding canopy! I thought: "I have no connection at all with Rav Shlomo. He is a holy man — he eats like an angel…" And I came — there was great joy. Rav Shlomo was so joyful but I could not — I already needed to eat. His wife felt that I needed to eat. Rav Shlomo did not need to eat — he ate like a bird. I did not know how one can live on a few crumbs like a bird! I could not bear it — I was not eating. I ate — and Rav Shlomo was not eating. I never saw in this world a person who eats so. He took some small piece and held it — until he swallowed. Afterwards he took a few more drops. I could not — I must eat. He ate with such great holiness — like a bird. But I was a human being — I need to eat and drink like every person.
