And through the merit and power of the study of the holy Torah, grant us merit through Your abundant mercies, and give us strength to subdue and to break and to banish the yetzer hara [evil inclination] from within us, and we should merit to banish and to nullify the ruach shtus [spirit of folly] and all manner of madness [shiga'on] that has cleaved to us through our evil deeds — all of it we should merit to banish and to nullify through the study of and engagement with the holy Torah, which is entirely Your holy Names — so that there shall be no power whatsoever for the spirit of folly and madness to confound our minds at all; rather we should merit to banish it and to remove it from upon us and from upon our borders. Our Father in Heaven, Who is good to all and Whose mercies are over all His works — grant us grace that we perish not. Give us merit through Your abundant mercies to subdue and to banish and to nullify the ruach shtus and the madness from us through engagement with the holy Torah. Please, Hashem — have compassion and pity upon my wretched soul, and save me from it, from these evil counsels of its, so that it have no power to mislead me, G-d forbid, through these confusions. And behold, I cast all my burden upon You, Hashem my G-d and G-d of my fathers — and I lean upon You alone, that You will lead me through Your abundant mercies in the straight and true path, at every time and every hour, at every movement and movement, so that they all be according to Your good will, and I not turn from Your will right or left. For You know that flesh and blood are we, and it is not possible for us to direct our intent at every moment truly toward Your good will in absolute truth. Therefore help me through Your abundant mercies, that there be no power whatsoever for the yetzer hara and the ruach shtus and the madness to confound my mind further in any confusion in the world at all; rather I should merit to lean upon You alone, and You will have mercy upon me through Your abundant mercies, and lead me and guide me in the path of truth always, at every time and every moment — in such a manner that all my deeds and occupations and movements, all of them, and all the movements of my children and my offspring and all who are dependent upon me — all of them should be according to Your good will alone, always, from now and forevermore. And so, may it be Your will — O You Who are filled with will, filled with mercy, filled with lovingkindness, filled with goodness — at every time and every moment always: that You have compassion and mercy upon me, and bestow upon me grace and lovingkindness, and grant me grace in Your eyes and in the eyes of all who behold me, and bestow upon me words of grace and supplication [chen v'tachanunin], so that my words may enter Your heart, and You receive my prayer and my request always. Master of the Universe — look upon our affliction and see our lowliness and our degradation. For all the grace and esteem of Israel Your holy people has fallen in this bitter exile, and Your people Israel are despised and lowly in the eyes of the nations [akum] and the wicked. And all the grace and esteem has fallen to them. Therefore have compassion, please, according to Your abundant mercies, upon Your great and holy honor — and raise up and exalt and magnify the grace and esteem of Israel in material matters and in spiritual matters; and nullify and humble the grace and esteem of the nations and of the sitra achra [Other Side] and of the wicked, so that they have no grace or esteem whatsoever — neither above nor below; and raise up the glory [keren] of Israel, and hear and receive our prayer and our crying at every moment, and look upon our toil and perceive our affliction and our distress. And fulfill the verse that is written: “For He has not despised nor scorned the affliction of the poor one, nor has He hidden His face from him — and when he cried out to Him, He heard.” [Psalms 22:25] Be gracious to us and answer us and hear our prayer — for You hear the prayer of every mouth of Your people Israel with mercy.
