שָׁלוֹם לַאֲהוּבִי בְּנִי חֲבִיבִי הָרַבָּנִי וְכוּ' מוֹרֵנוּ הָרַב יִצְחָק שֶׁיִּחְיֶה.
Peace — to my beloved son — my dear one — the rabbinical scholar — and so forth — our Teacher the Rabbi Yitzchok — may he live.
מִכְתָּבְךָ קִבַּלְתִּי עוֹד הַפַּעַם אֶתְמוֹל בָּעֶרֶב פֹּה קְהִלַּת פִּילִיטְשִׁינִיץ. וּכְבָר שָׁלַחְתִּי לְךָ מִכְתָּבִי עַל יְדֵי הַפָּאסְט מִבַּארְדִּיטְשׁוֹב בְּיוֹם ו' הֶעָבַר. כָּעֵת אֲנִי מוּכָן לִנְסֹעַ לְבַארְדִּיטְשׁוֹב וְשָׁם אֶרְאֶה לִשְׂכֹּר עֲגָלָה לְדַרְכִּי לְרַאדִיווִיל, הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ יוֹלִיכֵנִי לְשָׁלוֹם. וּמִכְתָּבְךָ קָרִיתִי הֵיטֵב, וְצַעֲקָתְךָ אֲנִי יוֹדֵעַ מִכְּבָר. וְאֵינִי יוֹדֵעַ עַתָּה מַה לְּהָשִׁיב לְךָ, כְּבָר שָׁמַעְתָּ הַרְבֵּה בָּזֶה שֶׁהַמַּחֲשָׁבָה בְּיַד הָאָדָם לְהַטּוֹתָהּ כִּרְצוֹנְךָ. וְאִם אַף עַל פִּי כֵן אַף עַל פִּי כֵן הִיא חוֹזֶרֶת וּמִתְגַּבֶּרֶת בְּרַעְיוֹנִים רָעִים וּבִלְבּוּלִים רַבִּים וְשׁוֹנִים, שֶׁנִּקְרָא בְּדִבְרֵי רַבּוֹתֵינוּ זַ"ל "תִּמְהוֹן לֵב וְעֹל בַּרְזֶל", כְּמוֹ שֶׁאָמְרוּ רַבּוֹתֵינוּ זַ"ל זֶה רַעְיוֹן, עִם כָּל זֶה הַבְּחִירָה בְּיַד הָאָדָם בְּכָל פַּעַם. וּכְמוֹ שֶׁיֵּשׁ כֹּחַ בְּיָדוֹ לְהִתְגַּבֵּר בְּכָל פַּעַם, אַף עַל פִּי שֶׁכְּבָר כַּמָּה פְּעָמִים נִמְלַט מִמֶּנּוּ וְכוּ', כְּמוֹ כֵן וְיוֹתֵר מִזֶּה יֵשׁ כֹּחַ בִּפְנִימִיּוּת הַטּוֹב שֶׁבָּאָדָם לַחֲזֹר וּלְהִתְגַּבֵּר עָלָיו בְּכָל פַּעַם, כִּי מִדָּה טוֹבָה מְרֻבָּה.
Praised be G-d — he came home in peace yesterday after midday. And praised be Hashem — all was well established from Hashem. And because of the immensity of his longing to know of his welfare — in particular about his arrival home from Uman before Shavuos — he therefore urges himself now before the prayer to write to him — even though he still does not know with whom to send it. And it is impossible to extend — for the time for Shacharis has arrived. He received his pleasant letter from the past Thursday — on the past Sunday — in Uman. And they drank a little for the joy of his bris milah — and blessed him with the blessing of mazal tov. Also at the holy tziyun he mentioned this among their very many needs — which are beyond telling. And may Hashem Yisborach grant him to raise him to Torah and chupah and good deeds — for long days and good years — Amen.
וְהַכֹּל בְּדַרְכֵי הָעֵצוֹת הַפְּשׁוּטוֹת וְהָעֲמֻקּוֹת שֶׁל הַנַּחַל נוֹבֵעַ מְקוֹר חָכְמָה. וְעַל כֻּלָּם, לִשָּׂא עֵינָיו לַמָּרוֹם בְּכָל פַּעַם וְלִצְעֹק מֵעֹמֶק הַלֵּב וְכוּ'. וְיוֹתֵר מִזֶּה צְרִיכִין לְהִתְגַּבֵּר בְּשִׂמְחָה עַל פִּי כָּל הַדְּרָכִים וְהָעֵצוֹת שֶׁדִּבַּרְנוּ הַרְבֵּה בָּזֶה. וּבָרוּךְ הַשֵּׁם יֵשׁ לְךָ בַּמֶּה לִשְׂמֹחַ שֶׁאַתָּה מְחַיֶּה אוֹתִי בְּכָל פַּעַם בְּמִכְתָּבֶיךָ וּבְטִרְחוֹתֶיךָ בַּעֲסָקַי, וְאַתָּה מְסַיְּעֵנִי תְּהִלָּה לָאֵל בְּזֶה הָעֵסֶק סִיּוּעַ שֶׁיֵּשׁ בּוֹ מַמָּשׁ. כִּי (סֻכָּה מט:) 'גְּדוֹלָה גְּמִילוּת חֲסָדִים יוֹתֵר מִן הַצְּדָקָה'. וְגַם תְּהִלָּה לָאֵל הָיִיתָ עַל שָׁבוּעוֹת קֹדֶשׁ הֶעָבַר. וְהָיִיתָ בִּכְלַל הַבּוֹטְחִים בִּשְׁמוֹ בֶּאֱמֶת, הַצּוֹעֲקִים בְּשִׂמְחָה מִלֵּב נִשְׁבָּר (תְּהִלִּים כב) "בְּךָ בָּטְחוּ אֲבוֹתֵינוּ בָּטְחוּ וּתְפַלְּטֵמוֹ" וְכוּ' וְכוּ'. יָתֵר מִזֶּה אֵין פְּנַאי עַתָּה לְהַאֲרִיךְ כַּאֲשֶׁר תָּבִין מֵעַצְמְךָ טִרְדָּתִי עַתָּה.
The words of your father — who always seeks your peace with love — and who intercedes for you — and urges and advises you for your benefit in this world and in the World to Come — forever.
בְּיוֹם ב' בָּאתִי שֵׁנִית לְפֹה בַּארְדִּיטְשׁוֹב. וְהַיּוֹם יוֹם ד' שָׂכַרְתִּי עֲגָלָה תְּהִלָּה לָאֵל לְרַאדִיווִיל, וּבְעוֹד אֵיזֶה שָׁעוֹת כְּמוֹ ג' ד שָׁעוֹת קֹדֶם הַלַּיְלָה אֶסַּע אִם יִרְצֶה הַשֵּׁם מִפֹּה. הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ בְּרַחֲמָיו יוֹלִיכֵנִי לְשָׁלוֹם. וּכְפִי הַנִּרְאֶה אֶשְׁבּוֹת בַּדֶּרֶךְ, וְאִם יִרְצֶה הַשֵּׁם ב' ג' יָמִים אַחֲרֵי שַׁבַּת הַסָּמוּךְ אֶהְיֶה שָׁם בְּרַאדִיווִיל בְּעֶזְרַת הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ. מֵעֹצֶם אַהֲבָתְךָ, וּתְשׁוּקָתְךָ לִדְבָרַי כָּתַבְתִּי לְךָ מֵעֵבֶר לַדַּף בַּכְּפָר הַנַּ"ל אֵיזֶה דִּבְרֵי אֱמֶת. וְיָתֵר מִזֶּה אִי אֶפְשָׁר לְהַאֲרִיךְ עַתָּה. חֲזַק וֶאֱמַץ מְאֹד בְּנִי חֲבִיבִי וּבְטַח בַּה' כִּי לֹא יַעֲזֹב אוֹתְךָ. וְאִם הָיִיתָ יוֹדֵעַ חֵלֶק מֵאֶלֶף מַה שֶּׁאָנוּ רוֹאִים עַתָּה מַה שֶּׁנַּעֲשֶׂה בָּעוֹלָם, הָיִיתָ שָׂמֵחַ מְאֹד עַל חֶלְקְךָ. אַשְׁרֵינוּ שֶׁזָּכִינוּ לֵידַע מִנְּקֻדַּת הָאֱמֶת וְכוּ'. וְהַהֶכְרֵחַ לְהַפְסִיק בְּאֶמְצַע, אַף שֶׁיֵּשׁ הַרְבֵּה לְדַבֵּר בָּזֶה עַתָּה, אֲבָל אֲנִי נֶחְפָּז לְדַרְכִּי לְשָׁלוֹם. ה' יַנְחֵנִי בְּצִדְקָתוֹ וִיבִיאֵנוּ לְשָׁלוֹם לִמְחוֹז חֶפְצֵנוּ וְכוּ'.

The words of your father — who awaits seeing you anew at the holy Shavuos coming upon us for good — in great joy — in His chesed Yisborach.

וְשָׁלוֹם לְכָל אַנְשֵׁי שְׁלוֹמֵנוּ בְּאַהֲבָה רַבָּה.
Nussun of Breslov. Just now he returns to express a little of his conversation — since he already heard what happened in Uman — that the upper roof of our Beis Midrash fell. And suddenly upon coming to the Beis Midrash he saw this ruin — and his heart went out. And your father — may his light shine — told him immediately the greatness of the commotion and the fear he had at the time it fell — with a great trembling and loud noise — until he nearly fainted. And our many enemies and adversaries rushed running to their Beis Midrash with joy to announce this — and said — G-d forbid — that our entire Beis Midrash fell. Kol oy'veinu yal'igu lanu — and we did not know what to do — for our eyes are to You. Added to this — immediately in those days that he was there — the decree went out to expel from Uman all those who are not registered there. And from the police they announced loudly outside — as is the custom they speak — everyone to leave from there shortly. Whoever has no residence may linger only two months — and whoever has a residence may linger until the month of May. And from yourself you will understand — that your father — may his light shine — is also included in this threat.
