…Therefore — from now on, one must have every day a fixed study-session in repentance as mentioned above. And the essential: to invest strength in it — that we merit to come this year, etc. And the rest of the entire day — to serve Hashem in joy: that is — to study Rabbainu's books at length, deeply, with hisbodidus upon them. And to pray from the Torah-teachings and prayers with devekus and love and joy. And to bring Rabbainu's words into the mind. And to walk with them. And to compel oneself to pray with full strength. And to fulfill the counsel from Rabbainu's books. And when one has time — only to yearn and to remember well that the essential salvation is to come to Eretz Yisrael for Rosh Hashana, etc. And also to have fixed sessions in Psalms, Chok [the daily portion], Ma'amadot, a chapter of Mishnah, Chumash with Rashi, Prophets, Shulchan Aruch in order, Ein Yaakov, Midrash. And to say a little Zohar. And most of the day on Rabbainu's books, as above. And if we fulfill this — happy are we! And we will merit greatly in this world and the World to Come. Amen, so may it be His will. And the essential — to remember every day to be in joy and to dance greatly. And also to fulfill the counsel of charity: to give each day a small coin into a charity box. And each week to send some sum — part for me, part for printing, part to give life to the fellowship in Uman. And through this — you will merit what you will merit — things which the mouth cannot speak and the heart cannot think — true and eternal gains. Happy are you if you merit to this!

Nothing more is new. Believe me — I sat down to write a letter to you, and had not even one word to write to you — and Hashem, blessed be He, helped that such a letter emerged. And store it well — and read it every single day. I need this letter — but I have no time to copy it. But let it be kept well with you — all my letters — for presumably at the end of it all — the time will come when they will be printed. My dear brother — please copy the booklet and send it back to me. And please, please: look carefully — perhaps you can find the two sections of conversations and stories that were lost among your things — the manuscript. Please look for them well — so that they can be printed and be a merit for the many for all generations. Please look for them well. And perhaps there are still other writings with you — send them to me, please, please. I also ask you: please, please — act immediately in the matter of the formal request for the man from Hungary [another Breslov companion in the Soviet Union seeking to exit] — and for the man from Poland. For the sake of Heaven — do not be silent about this. Please, please do this — and write to me immediately a reply about this. And also — please keep me in your thoughts. And when you can help me — do what you can: both in immediate monthly assistance, and in the larger assistance toward the journey — that we might together seize, etc. My dear brother — today, blessed be G‑d, we made an awakening together — to study every day Rabbainu's books deeply — together with some other newly-close young married men and young men. May Hashem help that it be fulfilled: "Let your springs spread outward." [Proverbs 5:16 — used in Breslov for the spreading of Rabbainu's teachings] And especially — the precious souls of Jerusalem, the Holy City. Amen, so may it be His will. And with G‑d's help, in these days — the book of Torah teachings from Rabbainu's manuscript — and prayers from R' Avraham, of blessed memory — and the Tzava'as HaRav of the Rav of Tcherin, of blessed memory — will be completed.

From me — your brother: Shmuel son of Feiga Horowitz. Please tell R' Velvil son of R' Gedaliah — that to my great sorrow the letter fell from my pocket on the road. Therefore I ask — as does his father — that he write again everything he wrote in the letter, sent directly by post. Please, please. My dear brother — I ask you greatly: for the sake of Heaven — have compassion on me — and act immediately in the matter of the formal requests for the man from Hungary and from Poland. And as long as I do not receive a reply from you on this — I will not write to you further until I receive a reply.
