One thing I ask of you — that you go on my behalf to the holy resting place of the holy Ari ז"ל — and to the resting place of my father ז"ל — and to the resting places of the Anash — to pray on my behalf. For I have been gravely ill for six days — and twice I had a full-night sweat [האב איך גישוויצט כל הלילה — Yiddish: "I had a sweat the entire night" — a full-night drenching sweat, a serious symptom of grave illness; the Yiddish embedded in the Hebrew sentence; twice occurring, indicating the severity] throughout the entire night — and I have not the strength to bear my weakness. Only "He Who gives power to the weary" [Isaiah 40:29 — "He gives power to the weary — and to the powerless He gives great strength" — the verse of divine sustaining power for those who have none of their own] — He gives me strength. And also I ask of Reb Nachman, may his candle shine, and Reb Dov, may his candle shine, and Reb Yoel Hirsh, may his candle shine, and Reb Shmuel, may his candle shine, and Reb Chaim, may his candle shine, and Reb Yaakov, may his candle shine — also to pray on my behalf. And also I ask of my beloved friends to give on my behalf a redemption of two bishlikim at the resting place of the holy Ari ז"ל — and distribute it to the Anash — and formally present it to my account [ולהציג לחשבוני — "and present it formally to my account" — the same verb v'satzeg as in Letter 71: to formally place and present the expenditure on his behalf against his account] — and say the prayer for the redemption. And also know — that I have no letter at all — neither from Kalibulad nor from Troyits. And ask everything for me — in the merit of Rabbainu ז"ל and his holy disciple — that I merit to lengthen my days further — to spend them in their holy books — all our days and years. One who loves you, Nussun from Breslov Written Sunday, Parshas Vayera, 5641 (October or November 1880), from Teverya. The writer has been gravely ill for six days — twice drenching sweats through the entire night. An urgent plea to all the Anash of Tzfas to pray for him at the holy graves. A redemption requested. נ נח נחמ נחמן מאומן One thing I ask of you — that you go on my behalf to the holy resting place of the holy Ari ז"ל — and to the resting place of my father ז"ל — and to the resting places of the Anash — to pray on my behalf.
