I heard from Rabbi Nosson — of blessed memory — that when Rabbainu revealed this above discourse before him — he said to him then: that this discourse is now [in these times] his personal hisbodedus [seclusion-prayer]. rom Rabbi Nosson — of blessed memory — that when Rabbainu revealed this above discourse before him — he said to him then: that this discourse is now [in these times] his personal hisbodedus [seclusion-prayer].
But in truth: this very verse — David the King — may peace be upon him — said at the end of Tmaniya Afei [the Psalm of eight letters — Psalms 119] — which has within it awesome and very lofty secrets — as is known. And likewise in all the Psalms that David the King said — all of them are full of very awesome and wondrous secrets. And who does not know and believe in the greatness of the level and spiritual degree of David the King? And even so: he said of himself: "I have strayed like a lost sheep." And so on. For the greatness of the Creator is without measure. And see above — in the discourse Sod Kavvanas HaMilah — Siman 63 — on the matter of "peace to the far and to the near": that the more the Tzaddik is close to Hashem — the more he knows that he is very far from Him — and so on. And see in Likutay Halachos, Choshen Mishpat, Laws of Craftsmen [Hil'chos Umnin], at the end of Halacha 4 — on the matter of what the Sages said: "the congregation of Korach is destined to be sought [levakesh]" — as it is written about them: "and they perished from the congregation [vayovdu mitoch hakahal]." And about David the King it is written: "I have strayed like a lost sheep — seek Your servant [bakesh avdecha]." See there. 📋 Translator's Summary — Siman 206 (Ta'isi K'Seh Oved) The author says: you who study this — stop and contemplate — and be very greatly amazed at the extent of the true wholeness of the righteousness of our Rabbainu — if you know and have heard somewhat of the greatness of the wonders of his toil and exertion in the service of Hashem from his very youth. And the greatness of the wonders of his attaining of holiness — and the wondrous, awesome, and very amazing attainment — as is known. And as is somewhat understood by every person who studies his holy books — which the world merited to benefit from. Apart from his other holy compositions which the world did not merit to benefit from — in the aspect of: [Genesis 1] "and G-d saw the light that it was good — to store away [l'ganoz]." And these are the most hidden secrets [razin v'razin d'razin] — as elaborated elsewhere. [See Chayyay Moharan — his journey to Lemberg — at length.] Aside from the hidden depths of wisdom that he merited to attain — which we did not merit to know about at all — even merely by rumor and information alone. And despite all of this: he entered the service of Hashem in such true and genuine simplicity [temimus emes] — to the extent that he secluded himself before Hashem: "I have strayed like a lost sheep" — and so on — and in the manner elaborated in this above discourse. The matter of traveling to the Tzaddikim for Rosh Hashonoh — and so on. This discourse is connected and linked with the discourse Chadi Rabbi Shimon, Siman 61. And it has already been elaborated somewhat on this matter — in what is elaborated in the above discourse Chadi Rabbi Shimon. And about David the King it is written: "I have strayed like a lost sheep — seek Your servant [bakesh avdecha]." See there.
