T133 PNC - Path of Righteous Like Dawn's Light — Divine Light Constant / Receiver Grows (1 seg)

Petek Nanach Running Commentary on Likutey Moharan

1

מִשְׁלֵי ד:יח.

1

Opening verse: 'And the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, going on and growing until midday is firmly established' (Proverbs 4:18). The sun radiates the same light at dawn as at midday — the sun itself does not change or grow. Yet at dawn, the light reaching us is limited and dim; at midday, it is full and brilliant. The difference is not in the sun but in the receiver: at dawn, the earth's atmosphere refracts and scatters the light, blocking most of it. As the sun rises, the direct-path angle improves and more light reaches the receiver. So too with the spiritual light available to a tzaddik or any person on the path of divine service: the divine light is always constant and full. What grows is not the light itself but the person's capacity to receive it. As one grows in spiritual refinement — clearing the 'atmosphere' of ego, sin, and spiritual coarseness — more of the always-available divine light can reach and illuminate one.
