בָּרוּךְ הַשֵּׁם, יוֹם ו' עֶרֶב שַׁבַּת קֹדֶשׁ עֲשֶׂרֶת יְמֵי תְּשׁוּבָה התר"ה אוּמַאן.

Overview: Thursday, Parshas Tavo — Uman — 5604. To Yitzchok. On Sunday he sent him his letter and informed him that he received his letters twice here — and replied via a man from Tultchin. And may the Master of Mercy — the Master of Salvations — have compassion — that we merit to weep greatly on the holy and awesome and very terrible day coming toward us in peace — which is Yom Kippur — and to express our conversation and our sins before Him — until Hashem looks down and sees from Heaven and opens for us the way to teshuvah — the holy way that Moshe our Teacher drew down in these forty days — which our awesome Rebbe — the memory of the righteous and holy one for a blessing — revealed in this generation — which is "im esak shamayim sham atah v'atzi'ah sh'ol hineka" — that one must be very very proficient in this — as written there — the aspect of baki b'ayeil baki b'nafik. Ashreinu ashreinu — thousands and myriads of times — that we merited to hear such awesome things. Would that we merit to fulfil them — that Hashem open our hearts in His Torah — and place in our hearts His love and fear — in a way that we merit to overcome all the confusing thoughts — and not to fall from anything — and to be truly proficient in all the above as His will — and the will of His holy fearers who revealed all this and more.

בְּשָׁעָה זֹאת הָיוּ בְּבֵיתִי אֶתְרוֹגִים מֵרַבִּי יַעֲקֹב וַוייסְמַאן, וְכִמְעַט שֶׁקָּנִיתִי אֶחָד מֵהֶם בְּסַךְ שְׁלשָׁה רוּבָּל־חָדָשׁ וָחֵצִי, וַעֲדַיִן לֹא נִתְרַצָּה לְגַמְרֵי, אַךְ בְּתוֹךְ כָּךְ נִתְיַשַּׁבְתִּי לִסְמֹךְ עָלֶיךָ, כִּי קִוִּיתִי לַה' שֶׁבִּרְצוֹנְךָ וּתְשׁוּקָתְךָ הַטּוֹבָה בְּוַדַּאי תִּקְנֶה לִי אֶתְרוֹג כָּשֵׁר וּמְהֻדָּר, וְלַה' הַיְשׁוּעָה. עַל כֵּן אִם עֲדַיִן לֹא קָנִיתָ תִּקְנֶה מִיָּד, וּכְבָר מָסַרְתִּי הַדְּבָרִים בְּפִי רַבִּי נַחְמָן מֵהַיְיסִין. וְגַם מֵאֵלֶיךָ תָּבִין אֵיךְ לְהִתְנַהֵג בִּישׁוּעַת ה', וַעֲצַת ה' הִיא תָּקוּם. וּבֶאֱמֶת אֲנִי מְרֻצֶּה לִתֵּן אֲפִלּוּ שִׁשָּׁה רוּבָּל־חָדָשׁ וְיוֹתֵר בִּלְבַד שֶׁיִּהְיֶה כְּדַאי, אַךְ קִוִּיתִי לַה' שֶׁכְּפִי שֶׁמְּצוּיִים אֶתְרוֹגִים עַתָּה תִּקְנֶה לִי אֶתְרוֹג כָּשֵׁר וּמְהֻדָּר בְּמִקָּח הַשָּׁוֶה. וְתִרְאֶה לְשָׁלְחוֹ לִי בִּזְרִיזוּת בְּאֹפֶן שֶׁיַּגִּיעַ לְבֵיתִי קֹדֶם בִּיאָתִי בְּיוֹם ה' הַסָּמוּךְ הַבָּא עָלֵינוּ לְטוֹבָה. גַּם תִּשְׁלַח לִי לוּלָב טוֹב וְיָפֶה וַהֲדַסִּים שְׁלשָׁה, הַכֹּל עַל צַד הַיּוֹתֵר טוֹב, וְתַחֲשֹׁב עִמִּי כִּרְצוֹנְךָ.

וּבַעַל הָרַחֲמִים בַּעַל הַיְשׁוּעוֹת יָחוּס וִירַחֵם עָלֵינוּ שֶׁנִּזְכֶּה לִבְכּוֹת הַרְבֵּה בַּיּוֹם הַקָּדוֹשׁ וְהַנּוֹרָא וְהָאָיוֹם מְאֹד הַבָּא לִקְרָאתֵנוּ לְשָׁלוֹם שֶׁהוּא יוֹם כִּפּוּרִים, וּלְפָרֵשׁ שִׂיחָתֵנוּ וְחַטֹּאתֵנוּ וְכוּ' לְפָנָיו עַד יַשְׁקִיף וְיֵרֶא ה' מִשָּׁמַיִם וְיִפְתַּח לָנוּ הַדֶּרֶךְ לַתְּשׁוּבָה, הַדֶּרֶךְ הַקָּדוֹשׁ שֶׁהִמְשִׁיךְ מֹשֶׁה רַבֵּנוּ עָלָיו הַשָּׁלוֹם בְּאַרְבָּעִים יָמִים אֵלּוּ אֲשֶׁר רַבֵּנוּ הַנּוֹרָא זֵכֶר צַדִּיק וְקָדוֹשׁ לִבְרָכָה גִּלָּה אוֹתוֹ בַּדּוֹר הַזֶּה שֶׁהוּא "אִם אֶסַּק שָׁמַיִם שָׁם אָתָּה וְאַצִּיעָה שְׁאוֹל הִנֶּךָ", שֶׁצְּרִיכִין לִהְיוֹת בָּקִי בָּזֶה מְאֹד מְאֹד כְּמוֹ שֶׁכָּתוּב שָׁם בְּחִינַת בָּקִי בְּעָיֵל בָּקִי בְּנָפִיק וְכוּ'. אַשְׁרֵינוּ אַשְׁרֵינוּ אֲלָפִים וְרִבְבוֹת פְּעָמִים שֶׁזָּכִינוּ לִשְׁמֹעַ נוֹרָאוֹת כָּאֵלֶּה. מִי יִתֵּן שֶׁנִּזְכֶּה לְקַיְּמָם שֶׁיִּפְתַּח הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ לִבֵּנוּ בְּתוֹרָתוֹ וְיָשֵׂם בְּלִבֵּנוּ אַהֲבָתוֹ וְיִרְאָתוֹ בְּאֹפֶן שֶׁנִּזְכֶּה לְהִתְגַּבֵּר עַל כָּל הַמַּחֲשָׁבוֹת הַמְּבַלְבְּלִים, וְלִבְלִי לִפֹּל מִשּׁוּם דָּבָר וְלִהְיוֹת בָּקִי בֶּאֱמֶת בְּכָל הַנַּ"ל כִּרְצוֹנוֹ וְכִרְצוֹן יְרֵאָיו הַקְּדוֹשִׁים שֶׁגִּלּוּ כָּל זֹאת וְיוֹתֵר מִזֶּה. וְגַם מֵחֲמַת זֶה בְּעַצְמוֹ לֹא קָנִיתִי הָאֶתְרוֹג פֹּה עַתָּה מֵחֲמַת שֶׁהוּא קֹדֶם יוֹם כִּפּוּר, אוּלַי אֶזְכֶּה אַחַר יוֹם כִּפּוּר לְאֶתְרוֹג נָאֶה מִזֶּה כְּמוֹ שֶׁגִּלָּה הוּא זַ"ל. וְאִם כִּי כְּפִי הַנִּרְאֶה יַגִּיעַ הָאִגֶּרֶת הַזֶּה לְיָדְךָ אַחַר יוֹם כִּפּוּר, אַף עַל פִּי כֵן תָּשִׂים לִבְּךָ הֵיטֵב לַדְּבָרִים הָאֵלֶּה, כִּי הָעִקָּר לְהַמְשִׁיךְ דַּרְכֵי הַתְּשׁוּבָה הַנַּ"ל בְּקִיאוּת הַנַּ"ל בְּכָל הַשָּׁנָה כֻּלָּהּ. וּמֵחֲמַת כְּבוֹד שַׁבַּת קֹדֶשׁ אִי אֶפְשָׁר לְהַאֲרִיךְ יוֹתֵר.
