Shazar — who is bound with strong bonds to the wondrous, holy, and most awesome Tree, which is the true Tzadik who stands as a shelter and a shield for us from generation to generation, and gives life to and fortifies our souls with all kinds of fragrances and spices of his awesome Torah. Fortunate are you that you have merited to know of the Master of Wonders — all of whose words are wonders, wonder of wonders beyond all reckoning — who burns away and nullifies all the heresies and false faiths, and draws down and brings close the entire world to Hashem Yisburach.

And the world is worthy to be astounded at the love between us — which all the waters of the world cannot extinguish! The essential purpose and perfection is only to serve Hashem with complete simplicity — without any wisdoms whatsoever. For there are researchers who say that the essential purpose is through their investigations and external wisdoms, and they spend their days in this world investigating and attaining intellectual concepts, and that is the purpose as far as they are concerned. But in truth, the essential attainment of the purpose and of the World to Come is only through faith and practical mitzvos — to serve Hashem with complete simplicity and straightforwardness. And through this itself one merits to what one merits ("the eye has not seen" [Isaiah 64:3], etc.). And in truth, the essential attainment of the purpose is only through faith and simplicity specifically — namely, fear of Hashem and practical mitzvos in complete straightforwardness. And through this itself one merits to what one merits. Prayer changes nature — and the wisdoms and investigations that proceed according to nature are thereby nullified. The researchers and the heretics interpret the entire Torah according to their wisdoms and their heresy — even the practical mitzvos — they interpret everything according to their forms and their intellect, and deny the actual performance of the mitzvos. Fortunate is one who knows nothing of them at all. And the essential subduing of them is through the true Tzadik of very exceedingly great stature — whose essential matter is prayer, for prayer changes nature.
