Letter 162

We are always obligated to give thanks and to praise Hashem Yisburach for the greatness of the kindness and the salvation… He has arranged through His wonders that He performed with us — that we have merited to be in the portion of Rabbainu — the new, holy and awesome and most exalted light, etc., etc. To accustom ourselves every day to truly deepen our thought in the immensity of the kindness and the wondrous and awesome salvation that Hashem Yisburach performed wondrously with us and with all of Israel for the generations of eternity. That we have merited to be in his portion, etc., as above. And to give thanks and to praise Hashem Yisburach — and to broaden our hearts — to open our mouths and to express before Him Yisburach all that is in our hearts. Like a son who coaxes his way before his father literally. For we see with our own eyes at every moment that we are literally the children of Hashem our G-d. For He constantly bestows kindnesses upon us — every day and at every moment and at every hour — like a father who has compassion upon his children.

Fortunate are our ears that we have merited to hear such awesome things! And if we wished to bring thanksgiving for a single word (from all the teachings that we have received) — all our days would not suffice to give thanks and to praise and to extol and to glorify and to exalt and to adorn and to triumph — to bless and to elevate and to acclaim — He Who has performed for us and for all Israel all these miracles. That we have merited (to hear) in these generations — to hear the revelation of such hidden things. For which we have no mouth or vessels to tell the praise of the awesomeness of the greatness of every single word from a single Torah teaching. All the more so — we have also merited to hear many and many Torah teachings, conversations and most awesome stories — how many good merits Hashem has toward us. Had we come into this world only to hear this — it would be sufficient! [If we had not come into this world except to hear this — it would have been sufficient for us.]
