Letter 315

The honor of the Tzadik has made known — that there is no despair ever. For Hashem Yisburach is full of mercy — and always desires the teshuvah of all the wicked. And He devises thoughts — that none be cast off from Him. And therefore — each and every one — according to his deeds now that he has done. And has descended and strayed to the place where he has descended and strayed. Then Hashem Yisburach contracts Himself — and hints to him hints — appropriate for him now — in his place and his hour. And one who does not have the intellect to deeply contemplate this in his mind — must at least believe in this with complete faith… And then he will be able to remember Hashem (specifically every day — and not to defer from day to day — Heaven forbid)… in every place and every time and at every level in the world — whether above or below — Heaven forbid. For Hashem Yisburach contracts Himself — every day — in every place — and hints hints, etc.

One must guard the memory — specifically every single day. And not to defer from day to day — Heaven forbid. For this is the essential wholeness of the memory — to remind oneself specifically every single day — about the World to Come. For every single day has within it special hints to draw close to His service — clothed in thought, speech and deed of that specific day…

No day is similar to its fellow. Every day the evil inclination of a person renews itself against him. But the good measure is greater. For "the kindnesses of Hashem — for they are not exhausted" [Lamentations 3:22], etc. And they renew themselves every morning. And through this Hashem Yisburach will not abandon us into its hand. Therefore one must every day anew — strengthen oneself and hope and wait for Hashem Yisburach — that He help him and save him anew literally — in all the matters of the afflictions and the distresses and the confusions and the obstacles, etc. That pass over every person. And it seems to him every day and every moment that such an hour has never passed over him before. And sometimes it is somewhat true. But he does not have the mind to understand that the kindnesses that are renewing now are even greater! "If I said — my foot has slipped, etc." [Psalms 94:18].
