הַבִּיטָה עֲנֵנִי יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהָי הָאִירָה עֵינַי פֶּן אִישַׁן הַמָּוֶת. לֹא אָמוּת כִּי אֶחְיֶה וַאֲסַפֵּר מַעֲשֵׂי יָהּ. יַסֹּר יִסְּרַנִי יָהּ וְלַמָּוֶת לֹא נְתָנָנִי. רִבּוֹנוֹ שֶׁל עוֹלָם, בַּעַל הָרַחֲמִים, בַּעַל הַחֶמְלָה וְהַחֲנִינָה, מְחַיֶּה מֵתִים בְּרַחֲמִים רַבִּים, סוֹמֵךְ נוֹפְלִים וְרוֹפֵא חוֹלִים וּמַתִּיר אֲסוּרִים, וּמְקַיֵּם אֱמוּנָתוֹ לִישֵׁנֵי עָפָר. רַחֵם עָלַי לְמַעַן שְׁמֶךָ, וְתֵן לִי עֵצָה שְׁלֵמָה שֶׁאֶזְכֶּה לְקַיְּמָהּ, בְּאֹפֶן שֶׁאַתְחִיל עַל כָּל פָּנִים מֵעַתָּה לְהָכִין אֶת עַצְמִי עַל הַדֶּרֶךְ הָרָחוֹק שֶׁאֲנִי צָרִיךְ לֵילֵךְ בּוֹ בְּלִי סָפֵק, שֶׁהוּא דֶּרֶךְ כָּל הָאָרֶץ, אֲשֶׁר אֵין אִישׁ נִמְלָט מִמֶּנּוּ, וְהַדֶּרֶךְ רָחוֹק וּמְסֻכָּן מְאֹד, וַעֲדַיִן לֹא הִתְחַלְתִּי לְהָכִין אֶת עַצְמִי כְּלָל, אוֹרְחָא רְחִיקָא, וַאֲפִלּוּ זַוְדָּא קַלִּילָא לֵית לִי, אוֹי, מָה אֶעֱשֶׂה, לֹא דַי שֶׁאֵין לִי צֵדָה לְדֶרֶךְ רָחוֹק וְנוֹרָא וּמְאֻיָּם כָּזֶה, אַף־גַּם אֲנִי בַּעַל חוֹב גָּדוֹל בְּאוֹתוֹ הַדֶּרֶךְ, חוֹבוֹת רַבִּים וַעֲצוּמִים מְאֹד מְאֹד, וְהַנּוֹגְשִׂים אָצִים שָׁם וְעוֹמְדִים מוּכָנִים בְּכָל עֵת לִתְבֹּעַ וְלִנְגֹּשׂ אוֹתִי חַס וְשָׁלוֹם. וְעַל כָּל הַמַּעֲשֶׂה שָׁם אֶצְטָּרֵךְ לִתֵּן דִּין וְחֶשְׁבּוֹן עַל כָּל עֵת וָרֶגַע, עַל כָּל דָּבָר גָּדוֹל וְקָטָן, עַל כָּל מַחֲשָׁבָה דִּבּוּר וּמַעֲשֶׂה. אוֹי, מָה אֶעֱשֶׂה, מִי יַעֲמֹד בַּעֲדִי, וּמִי יָקוּם בְּפָנַי, אוֹי, אוֹי, מָה אוֹמַר וּמָה אֲדַבֵּר, וּמָה אֶעֱשֶׂה כִּי יָקוּם אֵל, וְכִי יִפְקֹד מָה אֲשִׁיבֶנּוּ:
Master of the Universe, Master of the Universe — act for Your Name's sake and not for ours; see our stand destitute and empty.
וּבְכֵן יְהִי רָצוֹן מִלְּפָנֶיךָ יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵינוּ, מָלֵא רַחֲמִים, שֶׁתִּהְיֶה בְּעֶזְרִי וְתוֹשִׁיעֵנִי שֶׁאֶזְכֶּה מֵעַתָּה עַל כָּל פָּנִים לְהֵטִיב אֶת מַעֲשַׂי, וְלָשׁוּב בִּתְשׁוּבָה שְׁלֵמָה לְפָנֶיךָ בֶּאֱמֶת, וְלֹא אָסוּר עוֹד מֵרְצוֹנְךָ יָמִין וּשְׂמֹאל. וּתְזַכֵּנִי לְהַרְבּוֹת בְּמִצְוֹת כָּל יְמֵי חַיַּי בִּקְדֻשָּׁה וּבְטָהֳרָה גְּדוֹלָה וּבְשִׂמְחָה וְחֶדְוָה רַבָּה וַעֲצוּמָה, עַד שֶׁאֶזְכֶּה שֶׁיִּהְיוּ נַעֲשִׂין מֵהַמִּצְוֹת שֶׁלִּי נֵרוֹת קְדוֹשׁוֹת הַרְבֵּה, וּמִכָּל מִצְוָה וּמִצְוָה יִהְיֶה נַעֲשֶׂה מִמֶּנָּה נֵר קָדוֹשׁ וְנוֹרָא, כְּמוֹ שֶׁכָּתוּב, כִּי נֵר מִצְוָה וְתוֹרָה אוֹר. וְתַחְמֹל עָלַי וּתְזַכֵּנִי לְהִתְקַדֵּשׁ בִּקְדֻשָּׁה גְּדוֹלָה וְלַעֲלוֹת מַעְלָה מַעְלָה, וּלְהִתְקָרֵב אֵלֶיךָ בְּהִתְקָרְבוּת גָּדוֹל בֶּאֱמֶת לַאֲמִתּוֹ כִּרְצוֹנְךָ הַטּוֹב, עַד שֶׁאֶזְכֶּה בָּעֵת שֶׁיַּגִּיעַ קִצִּי וּזְמַנִּי לְהִפָּטֵר מִן הָעוֹלָם, לְהָשִׁיב נַפְשִׁי וְרוּחִי וְנִשְׁמָתִי אֵלֶיךָ בִּקְדֻשָּׁה וּבְטָהֳרָה גְּדוֹלָה בְּלִי שׁוּם סִיג וּפְגָם, וַאֲתַקֵּן בְּחַיַּי כָּל אֲשֶׁר פָּגַמְתִּי וְשִׁחַתְתִּי בַּעֲוֹנוֹתַי הָרַבִּים וּבִפְשָׁעַי הָעֲצוּמִים, וּתְזַכֵּנִי בְּרַחֲמֶיךָ הָרַבִּים לְהִתְוַדּוֹת בְּכָל יוֹם וָיוֹם, וּבִפְרָט סָמוּךְ לְמִיתָתִי אֶזְכֶּה לְהִתְוַדּוֹת לְפָנֶיךָ בְּפֶה מָלֵא בְּכָל מִינֵי וִדּוּיִם בֶּאֱמֶת וּבְלֵב שָׁלֵם, בְּלֵב נִשְׁבָּר וְנִדְכֶּה, וּבִבְכִיָּה רַבָּה וַעֲצוּמָה, בְּאֹפֶן שֶׁאֶזְכֶּה לְעוֹרֵר רַחֲמֶיךָ הָרַבִּים וְהָאֲמִתִּיִּים עָלַי, שֶׁתִּמְחוֹל וְתִסְלַח וּתְכַפֵּר לִי אֶת כָּל חֲטָאַי וַעֲוֹנוֹתַי וּפְשָׁעַי, שֶׁחָטָאתִי וְשֶׁעָוִיתִי וְשֶׁפָּשַׁעְתִּי לְפָנֶיךָ מִתְּחִלָּה וְעַד סוֹף, בְּגִלְגּוּל זֶה וּבְגִלְגּוּלִים אֲחֵרִים, וְלֹא יִהְיֶה נִשְׁאָר מֵהֶם שׁוּם רֹשֶׁם וְזֵכֶר כְּלָל, רַק כָּל הָעֲוֹנוֹת יִתְהַפְּכוּ לְזְכֻיּוֹת. וְתִהְיֶה מִיתָתִי כַּפָּרָה עַל כָּל עֲוֹנוֹתַי. וְתִהְיֶה יְצִיאָתִי מִן הָעוֹלָם כְּבִיאָתִי לָעוֹלָם בְּלִי חֵטְא וּפְגָּם כְּלָל. וְאֶזְכֶּה לִהְיוֹת קַיָּם וְחָזָק בֶּאֱמוּנָתְךָ הַקְּדוֹשָׁה תָמִיד לְעוֹלָם וָעֶד. וְאֶזְכֶּה לְקַבֵּל עָלַי עוֹל מַלְכוּת שָׁמַיִם שְׁלֵמָה קֹדֶם יְצִיאַת נִשְׁמָתִי, לִקְרוֹת אָז קְרִיאַת שְׁמַע בְּפֶה מָלֵא, בְּאֵימָה וּבְיִרְאָה גְּדוֹלָה בֶּאֱמֶת וּבֶאֱמוּנָה שְׁלֵמָה בְּשִׂמְחָה וְחֶדְוָה רַבָּה וַעֲצוּמָה, וּלְדַבֵּר הַרְבֵּה דִּבּוּרֵי אֱמוּנָה הַקְּדוֹשָׁה לוֹמַר בְּפֶה מָלֵא שֶׁאֲנִי מַאֲמִין בְּךָ יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהֵינוּ וֵאלֹהֵי אֲבוֹתֵינוּ, וּבְכָל הַצַּדִּיקִים הָאֲמִתִּיִּים שֶׁהָיוּ מִימוֹת עוֹלָם עַד הֵנָּה, וּבְתוֹרָתְךָ הַקְּדוֹשָׁה אֲשֶׁר נָתַתָּ לָנוּ עַל־יְדֵי מֹשֶׁה עַבְדֶּךָ בִּכְתָב וּבְעַל־פֶּה, וּלְהַאֲרִיךְ בְּדִבּוּרֵי אֱמֶת וֶאֱמוּנָה בְּלֵב שָׁלֵם, עַד שֶׁתֵּצֵא נִשְׁמָתִי מִתּוֹךְ דִּבּוּרֵי אֱמוּנָה הַקְּדוֹשָׁה, וְתֻכְלַל נַפְשִׁי וְרוּחִי וְנִשְׁמָתִי מִיַּד בְּתוֹךְ הָאֱמוּנָה הַקְּדוֹשָׁה, וְתַעֲלֶה וְתִרְאֶה בְּאוֹר פָּנֶיךָ, וְתִהְיֶה נַפְשִׁי צְרוּרָה בִּצְרוֹר הַחַיִּים אֶת יְהֹוָה אֱלֹהַי בְּתוֹךְ כְּלָל נַפְשׁוֹת (הַצַּדִּיקִים) הַקְּדוֹשִׁים שֶׁל בְּנֵי יִשְׂרָאֵל עַמֶּךָ, וְאֶזְכֶּה לַחֲזוֹת בְּנֹעַם יְהֹוָה וּלְבַקֵּר בְּהֵיכָלוֹ:
One thing have I asked of Hashem — that shall I seek: to dwell in the house of Hashem all the days of my life — to behold the pleasantness of Hashem and to visit in His Temple. For He will shelter me in His Sukkah on the day of trouble — He will hide me in the shelter of His tent; upon a rock He shall raise me [Psalms 27:4–5]. Master of the Universe — have mercy upon me through Your immense mercies and Your abundant and great lovingkindnesses; and grant me merit to fulfill the commandment of Sukkah in its time — as is fitting; in all its particulars and details and its intentions and the 613 commandments dependent upon it; and with a good heart and great joy. And may I merit that there be drawn toward me the holy minds [mochin kedoshim] and the great and wondrous lovingkindnesses [chasadim] that are drawn upon Your people Israel during the days of the holy festival of Sukkos — through the holy and very awesome commandment of Sukkah; when the Imma [the supernal Mother] hovers over her children [Imma mesakkechet al baneha]; and You spread the Sukkah of mercy and life and peace over us. Full of mercy; full of mercy: have mercy upon me for Your Name's sake. You know my heart — how very far I am from the commandment of Sukkah; and how many supplications and requests and urgings beyond measure I need to pray and to supplicate before You — that You grant me merit to such holy minds; to such lovingkindnesses; in such a manner that I merit to true knowledge [da'as amiti] — the knowledge of a human being [da'as shel adam]; in such a manner that I speedily merit to go out from the animal level to the human level [min behemah l'adam]; that I have pity upon myself from now and not do any more deeds of an animal; rather may I speedily merit to true knowledge — which is the boundary of humanity. And may I merit to draw sustenance from the abundance of the human [shefa shel adam]; and not draw sustenance any further from the abundance of the animal [shefa shel behemah]; and may I go out and rise speedily from the animal level to the human level.
רִבּוֹנוֹ שֶׁל עוֹלָם, רִבּוֹנוֹ שֶׁל עוֹלָם, רַחֵם עָלַי לְמַעַן שְׁמֶךָ. מָלֵא רַחֲמִים, יוֹדֵעַ תַּעֲלוּמוֹת, אַתָּה יוֹדֵעַ כָּל מַה שֶּׁעָבַר עָלַי וְכָל מַה שֶּׁעָבַרְתִּי וּפָגַמְתִּי נֶגְדְּךָ עַד הֵנָּה, אֲבָל חַסְדְּךָ גָּדוֹל עָלָי, וַעֲדַיִן אַתָּה מְחַיֶּה אוֹתִי, וְאַתָּה מְחַזְּקֵנִי בְּרַחֲמֶיךָ עֲדַיִן לְחַפֵּשׂ וּלְבַקֵּשׁ פְּלֵטָה, לְפַלֵּט וּלְמַלֵּט נַפְשִׁי מִמַּה שֶּׁאֲנִי צָרִיךְ לְהִנָּצֵל וּלְהִמָּלֵט, אָדוֹן יָחִיד, מָלֵא רַחֲמִים, פּוֹדֶה וּמַצִּיל, גּוֹאֵל חָזָק, גּוֹאֵל יִשְׂרָאֵל, רַחֵם עָלַי וּמַהֵר לְגָאֳלֵנִי גְאֻלָּה שְׁלֵמָה מְהֵרָה לְמַעַן שְׁמֶךָ מִכָּל הַתַּאֲווֹת רָעוֹת וְהִרְהוּרִים רָעִים, וּמִכָּל הַחֲטָאִים וְהַפְּגָמִים שֶׁהֻרְגַּלְתִּי בָּהֶם. אוֹי לִי וַי לִי, אוֹי לִי וַי לִי, אוֹי, אוֹי וַאֲבוֹי, אוֹי, אוֹי, אֵינִי יוֹדֵעַ כְּלָל מַה לְדַבֵּר, וְאֵיךְ לְבַקֵּשׁ עֵצָה וְתַחְבּוּלָה בִּיוֵן מְצוּלָה וְאֵין מָעֳמָד כָּזֶה, בְּבִלְבּוּל כָּזֶה, בִּרְגִילוּת לֹא טוֹבִים כָּאֵלֶּה, בְּרִפְיוֹן יָדַיִם כָּזֶה, בְּקַשְׁיוּת עֹרֶף כָּזֶה. אֲבָל אַף־עַל־פִּי־כֵן אֲנִי רוֹאֶה עֲדַיִן חֲסָדֶיךָ הָרַבִּים וְרַחֲמֶיךָ הָעֲצוּמִים עָלַי בְּלִי שִׁעוּר, חֲסָדִים אֲמִתִּיִּים וְנִצְחִיִּים בְּכָל יוֹם וָיוֹם, כִּי חַסְדְּךָ גָּדוֹל עָלָי וְהִצַּלְתָּ נַפְשִׁי מִשְּׁאוֹל תַּחְתִּיָּה. חַסְדְּךָ גָּדוֹל עָלַי מְאֹד מְאֹד עַד אֵין חֵקֶר וְאֵין מִסְפָּר. אִם אָמַרְתִּי מָטָה רַגְלִי חַסְדְּךָ יְהֹוָה יִסְעָדֵנִי. בְּרֹב שַׂרְעַפַּי בְּקִרְבִּי תַּנְחוּמֶיךָ יְשַׁעַשְׁעוּ נַפְשִׁי. עַל כֵּן עֲדַיִן עַל מִשְׁמַרְתִּי אֶעֱמֹד לִשְׁטֹחַ אֵלֶיךָ כַּפַּי, עַד שֶׁתְּחָנֵּנִי וּתְרַחֵם עָלַי וְתוֹשִׁיעֵנִי יְשׁוּעָה שְׁלֵמָה בֶּאֱמֶת. וְתִשְׁלַח בְּלִבִּי עֵצוֹת שְׁלֵמוֹת אֲמִתִּיּוֹת בְּכָל יוֹם וּבְכָל עֵת וּבְכָל שָׁעָה, בְּאֹפֶן שֶׁאֶזְכֶּה מֵעַתָּה עַל כָּל פָּנִים לִתְשׁוּבָה שְׁלֵמָה בֶּאֱמֶת, לָסוּר מֵרַע וְלַעֲשׂוֹת הַטּוֹב בְּעֵינֶיךָ תָמִיד, עַד שֶׁאֶזְכֶּה בְּרַחֲמֶיךָ לִהְיוֹת בִּכְלַל יְרֵאֶיךָ וּתְמִימֶךָ הַזּוֹכִים לְרַב טוּב הַצָּפוּן וְגָנוּז, אֲשֶׁר אַתָּה נוֹתֵן לָהֶם רְשׁוּת לְחַפֵּשׂ וּלְבַקֵּשׁ בְּגִנְזַיָּא דְמַלְכָּא, אַשְׁרֵי חֶלְקָם. וְאֶזְכֶּה שֶׁיִּהְיוּ נַעֲשִׂין נֵרוֹת קְדוֹשׁוֹת מִכָּל הַמִּצְוֹת שֶׁאַתָּה מְזַכֵּנִי לַעֲשׂוֹת בְּחַיַּי, וְאֵצֶל אֵלּוּ הַנֵּרוֹת הַקְּדוֹשׁוֹת שֶׁל הַמִּצְוֹת אֶזְכֶּה בְּעֵת מִיתָתִי לְחַפֵּשׂ וּלְבַקֵּשׁ בְּגִנְזַיָּא דְמַלְכָּא, וְלֹא אֵיעוּל בְּכִסּוּפָא קַמָּךְ:
Master of the Universe, Master of the Universe — good and beneficent to all and His mercies are over all His works: have pity and compassion and mercy upon the animals and the beasts; and grant merit to me and to all of Your people the House of Israel — that we not blemish the commandment of Sukkah at all; in such a manner that our sustenance shall always be from the abundance of the human that is drawn from the aspect of Sukkah; and we shall not need to draw sustenance, G‑d forbid, from the abundance of the animals; and may we not extract for ourselves their abundance, G‑d forbid — in order not to cause, G‑d forbid, the untimely death of animals and beasts. And may the verse be fulfilled: Man and beast You save, Hashem [Psalms 36:7]. And it is said: Blessed is the fruit of your womb and the fruit of your land — and the fruit of your animals: the firstlings of your cattle and the flocks of your sheep [Deuteronomy 28:4]. And so may it be Your will — full of mercy and lovingkindnesses: that You cause to flow upon us true and complete knowledge through the holy commandment of Sukkah; in such a manner that we — and all Your people the House of Israel who need to build a house — may merit that the building not harm us at all; and may there reach us no danger whatsoever in body or soul or money through the building of our home. Rather on the contrary — may each and every one merit to build a home in great holiness and purity; in wisdom and understanding and holy knowledge. And may the verse be fulfilled: Through wisdom a house is built — and through understanding it is established. And through knowledge its rooms are filled with all precious and pleasant wealth [Proverbs 24:3–4]. And may our home be built for the Name of Hashem — to engage in it in Torah and prayer; and to receive in it fitting guests; until our home shall be a house of Torah and prayer; a meeting place for the wise; and there the Name of Hashem G‑d of the world shall be called. And so may You grant us merit through the holy commandment of Sukkah — to rejoice with great joy at Simchas Torah: to complete the Torah and to begin it with great joy and exultation. Let us exult and rejoice in this Torah — for it is for us strength and light. And be in our help each and every year — to fulfill the commandment of Sukkah in such great perfection; until we merit to receive the Torah anew from there each and every year. For from Sukkah goes forth the Torah; until through our entering the Sukkah we merit that from us ourselves Torah shall be made — that each one of Israel shall have Torah made from him; Oraisa v'Yisrael v'Kudsha Brich Hu kola chad [Torah and Israel and the Holy One Blessed be He are all one]. And may there be drawn upon us through the holy commandment of Sukkah: the holiness of the festival of Shavuos; the holiness of the month of Sivan; the holiness of the receiving of the Torah. Master of the Universe: our needs are very many without measure; and our mind is too short to explain or expound even one thousandth of them. And You know all. Therefore I beseech and beg before You: have mercy upon us; and arrange all the causes for good — in such a manner that the building shall be only for good in all aspects — for us and for our children and for all who come forth from our loins.

מָלֵא רַחֲמִים, הִקְשֵׁיתִי לִשְׁאֹל, אֲבָל מִמְּךָ לֹא יִקְשֶׁה וְלֹא יִפָּלֵא כָּל דָּבָר. וַאֲנִי מַאֲמִין בְּנִפְלְאוֹתֶיךָ הָעֲצוּמִים וּבְטוֹבוֹתֶיךָ הַנּוֹרָאִים וּבַחֲסָדֶיךָ הָרַבִּים וְרַחֲמֶיךָ הַגְּדוֹלִים, שֶׁעֲדַיִן יֵשׁ גַּם לִי תִקְוָה לִזְכּוֹת לְכָל זֶה בְּכֹחַ וּזְכוּת הַצַּדִּיקִים הַקְּדוֹשִׁים הָאֲמִתִּיִּים הַנּוֹרָאִים וְהַנִּשְׂגָּבִים, אֲשֶׁר בָּהֶם אָנוּ נִשְׁעָנִים תָּמִיד, וּבִלְעָדָם אֵין לָנוּ שׁוּם פִּתְחוֹן פֶּה לְבַקֵּשׁ אוֹתְךָ אֲפִלּוּ עַל דָּבָר קָטָן שֶׁבִּקְטַנִּים, אֲבָל בְּכֹחָם הַגָּדוֹל אָנוּ נִשְׁעָנִים לְחַלּוֹת וּלְבַקֵּשׁ פָּנֶיךָ עַל כָּל הַגְּדוֹלּוֹת וְהַטּוֹבוֹת שֶׁבְּכָל הָעוֹלָמוֹת, כִּי כֹחָם וּזְכוּתָם מַסְפִּיק גַּם עָלַי וְעַל כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵל לְזַכּוֹת אוֹתָנוּ לְכָל טוּב אֲמִתִּי וְנִצְחִי. עָזְרֵנִי לְמַעַן שְׁמֶךָ הוֹשִׁיעֵנִי לְמַעַן חַסְדֶּךָ, פֵּרַשְׂתִּי יָדַי אֵלֶיךָ נַפְשִׁי כְּאֶרֶץ עֲיֵפָה לְךָ סֶלָה. חֲמֹל עָלַי מָלֵא רַחֲמִים, וְעָזְרֵנִי וְהוֹשִׁיעֵנִי לְדַלֵּג וּלְקַפֵּץ עַל כָּל הַבְלֵי עוֹלָם הַזֶּה, וּלְהִתְקָרֵב אֵלֶיךָ בֶּאֱמֶת וּבְתָמִים לְעוֹלְמֵי עַד וּלְנֵצַח נְצָחִים. וִיקֻיַּם בִּי מִקְרָא שֶׁכָּתוּב, כִּי הִצַּלְתָּ נַפְשִׁי מִמָּוֶת הֲלֹא רַגְלַי מִדֶּחִי לְהִתְהַלֵּךְ לִפְנֵי אֱלֹהִים בְּאוֹר הַחַיִּים. וְנֶאֱמַר, שׁוּבִי נַפְשִׁי לִמְנוּחָיְכִי כִּי יְהֹוָה גָּמַל עָלָיְכִי. כִּי חִלַּצְתָּ נַפְשִׁי מִמָּוֶת אֶת עֵינִי מִן דִּמְעָה אֶת רַגְלִי מִדֶּחִי. אֶתְהַלֵּךְ לִפְנֵי יְהֹוָה בְּאַרְצוֹת הַחַיִּים. תּוֹדִיעֵנִי אֹרַח חַיִּים שֹׂבַע שְׂמָחוֹת אֶת פָּנֶיךָ נְעִימוֹת בִּימִינְךָ נֶצַח. אָמֵן וְאָמֵן:
