משיבת נפש - Meshivas Nefesh
כְּבָר מְבאָר שֶׁאֵין שׁוּם יֵאוּשׁ בָּעוֹלָם כְּלָל, וּבָזֶה בְּעַצְמוֹ שֶׁהוּא רוֹאֶה אֶת עַצְמוֹ רָחוֹק מְאד מֵהַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ בְּתַכְלִית הָרִחוּק, בָּזֶה בְּעַצְמוֹ רָאוּי לוֹ לְהַחֲיוֹת אֶת עַצְמוֹ מֵאַחַר שֶׁעַל כָּל פָּנִים הוּא יוֹדֵעַ שֶׁהוּא רָחוֹק. כִּי הָיָה אֶפְשָׁר שֶׁיִּהְיֶה רָחוֹק כָּל כָּךְ עַד שֶׁלּא יֵדַע כְּלָל שֶׁהוּא רָחוֹק, וּמֵאַחַר שֶׁעַל כָּל פָּנִים הוּא יוֹדֵעַ גּדֶל רִחוּקוֹ אַף עַל פִּי שֶׁהַאֱמֶת הוּא כֵּן, אַף עַל פִּי כֵן זֶה בְּעַצְמוֹ הוּא חָשׁוּב אֵצֶל הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ מַה שֶּׁהוּא עַל כָּל פָּנִים יוֹדֵעַ רִחוּקוֹ. וְעַל יְדֵי זֶה בְּעַצְמוֹ רָאוּי לוֹ לְהַחֲיוֹת אֶת עַצְמוֹ וּלְחַזֵּק אֶת עַצְמוֹ בְּכָל מַה שֶּׁיּוּכַל
It has already been explained that there is absolutely no despair in the world. And in this very fact — that he sees himself as very, very far from Hashem in the utmost distance — in this itself he should revive himself, since at the very least he knows that he is distant. For it was possible to be so distant as to not even know that he is distant — and since at the very least he knows the greatness of his distance, even though it is the truth, even so this very thing is precious before Hashem, that he at least knows his distance. And through this itself he should revive himself and strengthen himself in every way he can.
