For you can imagine my grief from his landlord — who wants to summon me to a court of law — and I do not know what I have sinned. Therefore I wrote to Reb Boruch, may his candle shine — perhaps he will bestow his grace upon me with a loan [יחונן אותי בהלואה — "will bestow grace upon me through a loan" — yechonnen — to bestow unearned gracious favor; from chanan — grace; the writer makes no claim but asks for gracious favor; acknowledging he has no right to the loan, only the plea for grace] — and I will send him all the books as security — until Hashem Yisbarach has mercy on him and providentially arranges money for Reb Kalman [ויזמן לר' קלמן מעות — "and arranges money for Reb Kalman" — yezamen — to arrange and make available through G-d's providential ordering; as in Letter 54 — not merely provide but arrange through divine preparation].
