T110 PNC - Torah Shall Not Depart — Pure Vessel Fully Grasps Torah (1 seg)

Petek Nanach Running Commentary on Likutey Moharan

יה' א:ח.

Opening verse: 'This Book of the Torah shall not depart from your mouth; rather, meditate in it day and night' (Joshua 1:8). The Torah is entirely spiritual — it is not merely a book of laws and stories but a wholly divine, spiritual reality. Therefore, a person whose actions and intellect are pure and refined — who has cultivated genuine spiritual purity — can fully grasp the Torah and retain it completely. The Torah finds a home in such a person because the vessel matches the content: the spiritually pure person becomes a fitting receptacle for the entirely spiritual Torah. But when a person's actions and mind are coarse or spiritually clouded, the Torah cannot fully rest within him — it flows through without taking hold. The obligation to meditate in Torah day and night is therefore not merely a legal obligation but a call to become the kind of person whose very nature is aligned with Torah's spiritual nature.
