This reader has a human interface, but every reader page also has static crawlable text. For any book, use /reader-plain/<book>/full.txt to search the complete work, or /reader-plain/<book>/<part>/<section>/index.txt for one section. This is sitewide and works for all reader teachings, not just this page.

T195 PNC - In Distress You Broadened for Me

Pettek Nanach Running Commentary on Likutey Moharan

1

Beginner: "In distress You broadened for me" (Psalms 4:2). Even inside our hardship, Hashem provides expansion. This is one of the deepest truths of Breslov: tzarah (distress) is not simply punishment — it contains within itself an opening, a broadening, a harchavah. When someone is in trouble, they are forced to turn to Hashem with more intensity than they ever would in comfort. That turning is itself the expansion. If we could see clearly in times of difficulty, we would recognize that our hardest moments are also our most spiritually opened ones. Intermediate: T195: "Ba-tzar hirchavta li" (Psalms 4:2) — even within tzarah (distress) Hashem provides harchavah (expansion/relief). Distress intensifies prayer and creates a channel for closeness (devekus) unavailable in comfort. LM 195.
