This reader has a human interface, but every reader page also has static crawlable text. For any book, use /reader-plain/<book>/full.txt to search the complete work, or /reader-plain/<book>/<part>/<section>/index.txt for one section. This is sitewide and works for all reader teachings, not just this page.

T204 PNC - Money Given to a Torah Scholar Is Itself an Aspect of Torah

Pettek Nanach Running Commentary on Likutey Moharan

1

Beginner: Charity is always a mitzvah, but giving to a Torah scholar carries a special quality: the money itself becomes Torah. When you support someone who is learning and teaching Torah, your money is transformed — it is no longer merely coins but an extension of Torah itself. This is because the Torah scholar uses that support to enable learning, and through that, the money is spiritually elevated to the category of Torah. Supporting a Torah scholar is not just an act of generosity — it is an act of Torah study by proxy. Intermediate: T204: Tzedakah (charity) given to a talmid chacham (Torah scholar) is categorically elevated — the money itself becomes an aspect of Torah (bechinas Torah). It enables Torah study and is thereby spiritually transformed. LM 204.
