T210 PNC - Business Conducted in Faith Fulfills 'And You Shall Love Hashem'
Pettek Nanach Running Commentary on Likutey Moharan
Beginner: "And you shall love Hashem your G-d" (Deuteronomy 6). The Sages explain this means: through your conduct, make the Name of Hashem beloved. When a person does business faithfully and honestly, people see this and are drawn to Torah and to Hashem. A Jew whose business dealings are impeccably honest sanctifies the Divine Name and causes others to love Hashem. Conversely, dishonest business dealings — even in small matters — cause a chillul Hashem (desecration of the Name). Business is thus not separate from avodah — it is one of its primary arenas. Intermediate: T210: Business conducted in emunah (faith/honesty) fulfills "Ve'ahavta" (Deuteronomy 6) — as the Sages teach (Yoma 86): through honest dealing, others are drawn to love Hashem. Emunah in commerce is a form of kiddush Hashem. LM 210.
