This reader has a human interface, but every reader page also has static crawlable text. For any book, use /reader-plain/<book>/full.txt to search the complete work, or /reader-plain/<book>/<part>/<section>/index.txt for one section. This is sitewide and works for all reader teachings, not just this page.

Beginner: Through neginah (melody) a person is recognized — whether he has accepted on himself the yoke of Torah. The siman: 'ba-kasef yisa'u' (Bamidbar 7:9), which Chazal (Arachin 11) explain: 'yisa'u is only a language of shirah,' as in 'se'u zimrah u-tnu tof.' This pasuk is said about the carrying of bnei Kehas, who carried the Aron on the shoulder — the very form of ol Torah. So the way a man sings is the diagnostic of whether he is genuinely shouldering the Aron. Intermediate: Neginah as test of kabbalas ol Torah: the niggun reveals whether the singer is bearing the Aron. Bamidbar 7:9 + Arachin 11 + zimrah = shirah = nesi'as ha-Aron. Cf. Tinyana T24 (10 minei neginah heal); Tinyana T63 (niggun of tzaddik). Practical: listen for the joy and the gravity together; a niggun without ol is empty; a niggun without simchah is broken.
