T56 (Tinyana) PNC - Lev Yisre'eli Is Mekomo Shel Olam — Place Does Not Apply

Petek Nanach Running Commentary on Likutey Moharan

1

1

When a person has a lev (heart), makom does not apply to him at all — on the contrary, he is the makom of the world. For Elokus is in the lev: 'Tzur levavi' (Psalms 73:26). And of Hashem yisborach it is said 'hineh makom iti' (Exodus 33:21) — He is the makom of the world, and the world is not His makom (Rashi; Bereshis Rabbah). One who has a lev Yisre'eli is therefore not fit to say 'this place is not good before me' — for makom does not apply to him at all; on the contrary, he is the makom of the world, and the world is not his makom.
