בצפת בעת ההוא של ר' שמואל העליר ז"ל היו יהודים בריונים שכל מי שהי' להם כעס עליו הרגו אותו והי' להם גמלי פרחי שביום א' היו בבירות וכו' והם הי' להם כעס על ר' שמואל העליר ובאו ואמרו שרוצים להיות אתו יחד בלי שום איש ביניהם רק פנים בפנים וכל העיר תראו שלא יעשו לו רעה והוא אמר שאינו ירא מהם והיו אתו בבית אחד ונפל עליהם פחד ומורא ולא עשו לו כלום:
