אִם הָיִיתָ מַמְשִׁיךְ וְעוֹשֶׂה מַה שֶּׁעָשִׂיתָ וְיוֹתֵר וְיוֹתֵר וְיוֹתֵר, כָּל יוֹם וְכָל שָׁבוּעַ, הוֹ.. מַה שֶּׁהָיִיתָ זוֹכֶה. אִם הָיִיתָ מִתְפַּלֵּל וּמִתְחַזֵּק - כְּבָר הָיָה לְךָ בָּנִים וּבְנֵי בָּנִים, כֵּן. וְכֻלָּם הָיוּ עוֹבְדִים אֶת הַשֵּׁם בְּתוֹרָה וּמִצְווֹת. נוּ, אֲבָל אַף-עַל-פִּי כֵן טוֹב מְעַט. הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ יְבָרֵךְ אוֹתְךָ בְּכָל הַבְּרָכוֹת וּבְכָל הַיְשׁוּעוֹת, מַה שֶׁאַתָּה צָרִיךְ הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ יַזְמִין לְךָ בִּמְהֵרָה, כָּל הַיְשׁוּעוֹת.
A group of ba'alei teshuvah [those who have returned to Torah observance] together with some veteran Chassidim arrived at Rabbi Yisroel for strengthening in the service of Hashem…

Oy — our holy Rabbenu! He is unique in all the generations who merited to serve Hashem every moment. He accepted upon himself all the sufferings and all the pains and all manner of troubles for the sake of Hashem. He said to Hashem: "I will not abandon You, I will not abandon You, I will not abandon You — until You help me!"
הָעִנְיָן שֶׁלִּי אֲנִי לֹא כְּלוּם, רַק הָעִקָּר הוּא תְּפִלָּה, לְהִתְפַּלֵּל כָּל אֶחָד לְהַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ כָּל יוֹם עַל כָּל מַה שֶּׁחָסֵר לוֹ, כָּל מַה שֶּׁצָּרִיךְ - לְבַקֵּשׁ בְּרַחֲמִים מֵהַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ. שֶׁנִּזְכֶּה לְיִרְאַת שָׁמַיִם וְלִשְׁמֹר הַתּוֹרָה וְהַמִּצְווֹת. וְאִם חַס-וְשָׁלוֹם נוֹפְלִים, אָז יֵשׁ רַבֵּנוּ רַבִּי נַחְמָן שֶׁהוּא לֹא נוֹתֵן לִפֹּל!

הַשֵּׁם יַּעֲזֹר לוֹ, כָּל הַדִּבּוּרִים שֶׁדִּבֵּר עִמְּךָ שֶׁיְּדַבֵּר לִפְנֵי הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ, לִפְנֵי הַצַּדִּיק. אָז הָעִקָּר זֶה רַבֵּנוּ הַקָּדוֹשׁ רַבִּי נַחְמָן, וְהָעִקָּר לִלְמֹד סְפָרָיו וּלְקַיֵּם מַה שֶּׁהוּא מְלַמֵּד אוֹתָנוּ, וּלְהַאֲמִין בּוֹ, מַה שֶּׁהוּא אוֹמֵר זֶה הֲלָכָה, זֶה מִן הַשָּׁמַיִם, זֶה כָּל חִיּוּתֵנוּ וְתִקְוָתֵנוּ. הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ הֵבִיא אוֹתוֹ לָעוֹלָם עַכְשָׁו בַּחשֶׁךְ הַזֶּה, שֶׁיַּהֲפֹךְ, שֶׁיְּקָרֵב כָּל הָעוֹלָם לְהַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ וְלַתּוֹרָה וְלָאֱמוּנָה וּלְהָאֱמֶת.
Now is the time of the days of Mashiach. Our holy Rabbenu will be revealed — he who cried out in such voices: Givald… zayt aych nit me'ya'ash. Kayn ye'ush iz gar nit far handen! — "Gevald… Do not despair. Despair does not exist in the world at all!" (and he presses the Yiddish word givald with a great voice). Had the world received this — the world would be new!
זֶה הָעִקָּר, הָעִקָּר לְהַאֲמִין בַּשֵּׁם וּלְהִתְפַּלֵּל לַשֵּׁם. לְהַאֲמִין שֶׁהַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ בָּרָא אוֹתָנוּ וְהוּא רוֹצֶה שֶׁאֲנַחְנוּ נַאֲמִין בּוֹ וְנַאֲמִין בַּתּוֹרָה וּבַמִּצְווֹת וְנִהְיֶה בָּנִים אֵצֶל הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ, זֶהוּ הַתַּכְלִית, זֶהוּ הַחַיִּים. בְּלֹא זֶה אֵין חַיִּים כְּלָל. בְּלֹא תּוֹרָה זֶה לֹא חַיִּים, זֶה חַיִּים שֶׁל מִן בְּהֵמָה, יֵשׁ בְּהֵמוֹת שֶׁהוֹלְכִים עַל אַרְבַּע רַגְלַים וְיֵשׁ בְּהֵמוֹת שֶׁהוֹלְכִים עַל שְׁתֵּי רַגְלַיִם. בָּעוֹלָם מִסְתּוֹבְבִים בְּהֵמוֹת עַל שְׁתֵּי רַגְלַיִם שֶׁגַם-כֵּן מְדַבְּרִים.
The entire world cannot stand against one word of Rabbenu. He already cried out with great voices: "There is no despair in the world at all!" Givald — "Do not despair, do not despair — there is no despair in the world at all!" Let them know and believe that there is no despair in the world at all. Shoyn — enough! — this alone has already conquered the entire world! One word from Rabbenu is all the Torah and all the salvations!
הַכֹּל אֵצֶל רַבֵּנוּ!
Oy — what our holy Rabbenu cried out in such voices: Givald… zayt aych nit me'ya'ash. Kayn ye'ush iz gar nit far handen! The voices of Rabbenu were literally as if he had no more strength to cry out — such cries reaching to the Heavens: Givald… Givald… Do not despair — there is no despair in the world at all! He cried out to the entire world. He cried out in such voices to the sick ones who have no cure: Givald… zayt aych nit me'ya'ash. Kayn ye'ush iz gar nit far handen!
אוֹי, צְרִיכִים בִּפְשִׁיטוּת לְדַבֵּר בַּפֶּה, מַה שֶּׁכָּתוּב בַּסֵּפֶר - לְדַבֵּר בַּפֶּה בְּפַשְׁטוּת וּלְהַאֲמִין שֶׁהַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ שׁוֹמֵעַ כָּל תְּפִלָּה וְכָל רָצוֹן טוֹב שֶׁיֵּשׁ לָנוּ. הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ יוֹדֵעַ הַכֹּל וְעוֹזֵר לָנוּ וְרוֹצֶה לַעֲזֹר לָנוּ. אֲנַחְנוּ צְרִיכִים לְהִתְגַּעְגֵּעַ לָזֶה וּלְהִתְפַּלֵּל לַשֵּׁם עַל זֶה שֶׁנִּזְכֶּה לְהַכִּיר אֶת הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ, שֶׁנִּזְכֶּה לְהַאֲמִין בַּשֵּׁם וְלַעֲסֹק וְלִשְׁמֹר הַתּוֹרָה וְהַמִּצְווֹת, זֶה עִקַּר הַחַיִּים, זֶהוּ. אֲנַחְנוּ כָּל חִיּוּתֵנוּ מֵהַתּוֹרָה וְהַמִּצְווֹת, זֶה כָּל הַחַיִּים!

הָעִקָּר - הַלֵּב, לְהִתְגַּעְגַּע, לְהִתְפַּלֵּל לַשֵּׁם: "רִבּוֹנוֹ שֶׁל עוֹלָם, רָחוּם וְחָנוּן, רַחֵם עָלַי שֶׁאֶזְכֶּה לְהַכִּיר אוֹתְךָ וְלַעֲבֹד אוֹתְךָ בֵּאֱמֶת בֶּאֱמוּנָה". זֶהוּ, זֶה עִקַּר הַחַיִּים. חַיִּים שֶׁל אֱמוּנָה, שֶׁל בִּטָּחוֹן, חַיִּים שֶׁל שִׂמְחָה, זֶה שִׂמְחָה! אִם לֹא זֶה אָז מָחָר-מָחֳרְתַיִם מֵתִים, אָז אֵיזֶה שִׂמְחָה זֶה? מַה יֵּשׁ מִכָּל הַתַּאֲווֹת, מִן הַכֹּל? אֲנַחְנוּ עַם יְהוּדִי, אֲנַחְנוּ קִבַּלְנוּ הַתּוֹרָה וַאֲנַחְנוּ עַם הַתּוֹרָה, עַם הַשֵּׁם. רַבֵּנוּ הַקָּדוֹשׁ אוֹמֵר: "מַה יֵּשׁ לְאִישׁ הַיִּשְׂרְאֵלִי לַעֲבֹד בְּזֶה הָעוֹלָם, מַה יֵּשׁ, אֵיזֶה עֲבוֹדָה יֵשׁ לוֹ? לְהִתְפַּלֵּל וְלִלְמֹד וּלְהִתְפַּלֵּל, זֶה הָעֲבוֹדָה!"
Givald — this is a language of very great warning: one can die. Givald… Givald… zayt aych nit me'ya'ash… And why did no tzadik cry out in such voices? Because he took this upon himself toward Hashem Himself: "Do not despair — there is no despair in the world at all!" Hashem says: "There is no despair in the world at all…"
צְרִיכִים לְחַפֵּשׂ כְּמוֹ שֶׁמְּחַפְּשִׂים אוֹצָר, לְחַפֵּשׂ דְּרָכִים אֵיךְ נִזְכֶּה לִחְיוֹת חַיִּים שֶׁל תּוֹרָה וֶאֱמוּנָה, חַיִּים שֶׁל שִׂמְחָה, חַיִּים שֶׁנִּקְרָא חַיִּים. אֱמוּנָה זֶה כָּל חִיּוּתֵנוּ, מַאֲמִינִים בַּשֵּׁם שֶׁהוּא שׁוֹמֵעַ תְּפִלָּתֵנוּ. בְּכָל יוֹם אֲנַחְנוּ מְדַבְּרִים עִם הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ וּמְבַקְּשִׁים מִתְפַּלְּלִים שֶׁיִּהְיֶה בְּעֶזְרֵנוּ שֶׁנִּזְכֶּה לְהִתְפַּלֵּל, שֶׁנִּזְכֶּה לַעֲבֹד הַשֵּׁם בֶּאֱמֶת, לַעֲשׂוֹת תְּשׁוּבָה בֶּאֱמֶת...
Our holy Rabbenu laughs at the entire world. He has already conquered and continues to conquer the entire world with one word — with one word he conquers all the world and says to them: Givald, do not despair — there is no despair in the world at all! He has already conquered the entire world!
רַבִּי יִשְׂרָאֵל מְשׁוֹרֵר בְּשִׂמְחָה שִׁיר אוֹתוֹ נָהֲגוּ לְשׁוֹרֵר אַנְשֵׁי שְׁלוֹמֵנוּ,
If they had listened to Rabbenu — the whole world would already be repaired. Not to despair and not to fall — only to overcome: "There is no despair in the world at all — they will never be ashamed, all who take refuge in You." What do you think — I know more than you: "There is no despair in the world at all." He will conquer us and all that is ours — from death to life. But quietly he enters the whole world and informs them: Givald, zayt aych nit me'ya'ash. Kayn ye'ush iz gar nit far handen.
"הָעוֹלָם הַזֶּה לֹא כְּלוּם, הָעוֹלָם הַזֶּה לֹא כְּלוּם.."
Why is there no despair in the world at all? Because I am in the world — and there is one who cries out "there is no despair in the world at all" (and Rabbi Yisroel indicated with his palm toward himself)…
עַכְשָׁו זְמַן הַגְּאֻלָּה, רַבֵּנוּ הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּא לָעוֹלָם וְגִלָּה לָנוּ שֶׁאֲנַחְנוּ רְחוֹקִים מֵהַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ וַאֲנַחְנוּ צְרִיכִים לְחַפֵּשׂ דְּרָכִים לַעֲבֹד אֶת הַשֵּׁם.
Oy, oy — Rabbi Yisroel Kardoner would customarily cry out Givald… Givald… With this power Rabbi Yisroel served Hashem — such service, such emunah, such truth… that he took from our holy Rabbenu. Drasha geshank.
רַבֵּנוּ הַקָּדוֹשׁ מְלַמֵּד אוֹתָנוּ וּמַזְכִּיר לָנוּ שֶׁהָעוֹלָם הַזֶּה לֹא כְּלוּם, הָעִקָּר הָעוֹלָם הַבָּא, הָעִקָּר הוּא לַעֲבֹד הַשֵּׁם, וְאִם לֹא - אָז יְשֵׁנִים. לֹא צְרִיכִים לִישֹׁן הַרְבֵּה וְלֹא צְרִיכִים לֶאֱכֹל הַרְבֵּה, רַק בְּשֵׂכֶל, בְּחָכְמָה, רַק לְדַבֵּר מַה שֶּׁיֵּשׁ לָנוּ בִּמְזֻמָּן. צְרִיכִים לְהַזְכִּיר עַצְמוֹ שֶׁהָעוֹלָם הַזֶּה לֹא כְּלוּם וְלִזְכֹּר שֶׁהָעִקָּר הוּא לַעֲבֹד הַשֵּׁם, לִלְמֹד תּוֹרָה וּלְקַיֵּם, זֶהוּ!
The beggars, the beggars, the beggars — [from the Sipuray Maasiyos MiShanim Kadmoniyos — the Tales of Ancient Times]. The children, the groom and bride — they were already famous among all the beggars. All knew of them — that these were the children lost in the forest. עַכְשָׁו יֵשׁ כְּבָר רַבֵּנוּ הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּעוֹלָם שֶׁהוּא בָּא לְקָרֵב אוֹתָנו לַעֲבוֹדַת הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ, לֹא לְכֶסֶף וְלֹא לְכָבוֹד וְלֹא לְפִרְסוּם. לֹא לִהְיוֹת לַמְדָּן וּלְחַפֵּשׂ כֶּסֶף וְכָבוֹד, לֹא. זֶה טָעוּת! עַד עַכְשָׁו לֹא יָדְעוּ, עַד עַכְשָׁו הָיוּ רַק רַבָּנִים גְּדוֹלִים, גַּאֲוָה, זֶה כְּלוּם. כָּל זְמַן שֶׁרַבֵּנוּ הַקָּדוֹשׁ לֹא הָיָה בָּעוֹלָם לֹא יָדְעוּ מִזֶּה, עַכְשָׁו כְּשֶׁיֵּשׁ כְּבָר הַ'לִּקּוּטֵי מוֹהֲרַ"ן' וְ'לִקּוּטֵי תְּפִלּוֹת' וְעוֹד וָעוֹד, אָז אֲנַחְנוּ צְרִיכִים לֹא לִישֹׁן וּלְחַפֵּשׂ דְּרָכִים אֵיךְ לַעֲבֹד הַשֵּׁם. כִּי בְּלֹא עֲבוֹדַת הַשֵּׁם, בְּלֹא תְּפִלָּה, בְּלֹא אֱמוּנָה, זֶה לֹא בְּנֵי-אָדָם.
Then he said: "I am here — I came to your wedding! I came to your wedding — I am here!"
כָּל זֶה לֹא כְּלוּם, כִּי הַכֶּסֶף לֹא כְּלוּם, הָאֲכִילָה לֹא כְּלוּם, הַשֵּׁנָה לֹא כְּלוּם וְהַתַּאֲווֹת לֹא כְּלוּם וְהַכֹּל לֹא כְּלוּם, רַק הָעִקָּר לַעֲבֹד הַשֵּׁם. לַעֲסֹק בַּתּוֹרָה וּבַתְּפִלָּה, זֶה נִקְרָא חַיִּים. אֲבָל בְּלֹא זֶה הָאָדָם, הָעוֹלָם, אֵין לוֹ כְּלוּם, אֵין לוֹ חַיִּים, יֵשׁ אֲנָשִׁים אֲבָל אֵין לָהֶם חַיִּים, אֵין לָהֶם חַיּוּת מֵהַתּוֹרָה, עִקַּר הַחַיִּים הִיא הַתּוֹרָה "כִּי הִיא חַיֶּיךָ וְאֹרֶךְ יָמֶיךָ". בְּלִי הַתּוֹרָה אֵין יָמִים, אֵין חַיִּים, אֵין כְּלוּם. יְשֵׁנִים כָּל הַשָּׁנִים וְהַיָּמִים, יְשֵׁנִים. הוּא יָשֵׁן עוֹד לַיְלָה וְעוֹד יוֹם וְעוֹד לַיְלָה וְלֹא יוֹדֵעַ וְשׁוֹכֵחַ כְּלָל מֵהַעִקָּר, לַעֲבֹד הַשֵּׁם וְהָעוֹלָם הַבָּא. בִּשְׁבִיל מָה הַחַיִּים, בִּשְׁבִיל מָה הַשֵּׁנָה, בִּשְׁבִיל מָה הָאֲכִילָה? בִּשְׁבִיל הָאֱמוּנָה, בִּשְׁבִיל שֶׁיִּהְיֶה לָנוּ חַיּוּת, לִזְכֹּר שֶׁיֵּשׁ עוֹלָם הַבָּא, הָעוֹלָם הַזֶּה לֹא כְּלוּם! הִנֵּה הוּא עַכְשָׁו פֹּה, אַחַר-כָּךְ הוּא שָׁמָּה...
The beggars gave gifts to the groom and bride — to both of them: a drasha geshank. And the children had all the good — all the good. What is a drasha geshank? "There is no despair in the world at all!" They did not know and do not know what Rabbenu is. Do you know? "I am Na Nach Nachma Nachman MayUman." Do you know who I am? I am your Rebbi — the Rebbi of all Israel! I cried out and I cry out: "There is no despair in the world at all…"
