מִכְתָּבְךָ קִבַּלְתִּי עַתָּה בְּאִישׁוֹן לַיְלָה וְהָיָה לִי לְנַחַת גָּדוֹל, אַךְ אֵין לִי פְּנַאי עַתָּה לַהֲשִׁיבְךָ בַּאֲרִיכוּת, כִּי בָּא אֵלַי הַשָּׁלִיחַ בְּאֶמְצַע כְּתִיבָתִי דִּבְרֵי תּוֹרָה הַמֻּכְרָחִים מְאֹד לְכָתְבָם מִיָּד, וְיַגִּיעַ גַּם לְךָ טוֹבָה בְּעֶזְרַת הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ בַּיָּמִים הַבָּאִים לְשָׁלוֹם, כְּשֶׁתִּזְכֶּה לִרְאוֹתָם בְּחַסְדּוֹ יִתְבָּרַךְ. וְהִנֵּה כְּבָר שָׁמַעְתָּ מֵהַיִּסּוּרִים וְהַבִּזְיוֹנוֹת שֶׁהָיוּ לָנוּ בַּיָּמִים שֶׁעָבְרוּ, וְאַף עַל פִּי כֵן חַסְדּוֹ גָּבַר עָלֵינוּ וּבִישׁוּעָתוֹ הַנִּפְלָאָה יִתְבָּרַךְ הָיִיתִי בְּשִׂמְחָה בַּיָּמִים הָאֵלּוּ יוֹתֵר מִשְּׁאָר שָׁנִים, גַּם בְּיוֹם אִסְרוּ־חַג סִבֵּב הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ בְּנִפְלְאוֹתָיו שֶׁרַבִּי שְׁמוּאֵל צוֹרֵף עָשָׂה סִיּוּם הַתּוֹרָה וְכִבֵּד אוֹתִי לְהַכְנִיס הַסֵּפֶר תּוֹרָה לְבֵית הַכְּנֶסֶת. וְהָיִינוּ בְּשִׂמְחָה תְּהִלָּה לָאֵל, בְּאִסְרוּ־חַג לְעֵת עֶרֶב, אֵצֶל הַבֵּית־הַכְּנֶסֶת מִבַּחוּץ, וּבִפְנִים בְּתוֹךְ הַבֵּית־הַכְּנֶסֶת, וְרָקַדְנוּ הַרְבֵּה בְּשִׂמְחָה. וְגַם זֶה מֵאֵת ה' הָיְתָה, כִּי כָּל הַשְּׂמָחוֹת שֶׁלָּנוּ הֵם יְשׁוּעוֹת ה' וְנִפְלְאוֹתָיו הָעֲצוּמִים, כִּי חֶדְוַת ה' הִיא מָעֻזֵּנוּ.
