מִכְתָּבְךָ קִבַּלְתִּי כַּמָּה פְּעָמִים. וְהִנֵּה הָיָה לִי לְנַחַת מַה שֶּׁקֵּרַבְתֶּם אֶת הֶעָנִי הָאוֹרֵחַ מֵרָחוֹק, וַאֲשֶׁר הֵבַנְתָּ מֵרָחוֹק כִּי דָּבָר הוּא; וּבְוַדַּאי אֱמֶת אֲשֶׁר כָּתַבְתָּ, כִּי רוֹאִים בְּכָל עֵת גְּדוֹלִים מַעֲשֵׂי ה' אֲשֶׁר מַפְלִיא חַסְדּוֹ עִמָּנוּ וְכוּ', וְאֵין לְהַאֲרִיךְ עַתָּה בָּזֶה, בִּפְרָט מַה שֶּׁיְּדִידֵנוּ רַבִּי יַעֲקֹב עָסַק לְטוֹבָתוֹ יָקָר בְּעֵינַי מְאֹד. יְשַׁלֵּם ה' פָּעָלְכֶם וְכוּ' וְיִפְקַח עֵינֵיכֶם שֶׁתִּרְאוּ בְּכָל עֵת נִפְלְאוֹתָיו וַחֲסָדָיו הָעֲצוּמִים לְהִתְעוֹרֵר מֵהַשֵּׁנָה עַל יְדֵי זֶה, וּלְהִתְקָרֵב אֵלָיו יִתְבָּרַךְ בְּכָל עֵת מִכָּל מָקוֹם שֶׁהוּא; כִּי הוּא יִתְבָּרַךְ עוֹשֶׂה נִפְלָאוֹת בְּכָל עֵת וְהַכֹּל רְמָזִים נוֹרָאִים לְהִתְקָרֵב אֵלָיו מִכָּל הַמְּקוֹמוֹת שֶׁהֵם וּכְמוֹ שֶׁכָּתוּב "נוֹרָאוֹת נִפְלֵאתִי נִפְלָאִים מַעֲשֶׂיךָ" וְכוּ'.

וְהִנֵּה כְּפִי מַה שֶּׁמְּסַבֵּב הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ עִמָּנוּ בְּנִפְלְאוֹת חֲסָדָיו, הִגִּיעַ עַתָּה הַזְּמַן שֶׁיִּסַּע יְדִידֵנוּ רַבִּי נַחְמָן לְדַרְכּוֹ בַּעֲסָקֵינוּ כַּיָּדוּעַ לְךָ, וּמֵה' מִצְעֲדֵי גֶבֶר כּוֹנָנוּ. אַךְ דַּעְתִּי שֶׁיִּתְעַכֵּב פֹּה עַד אַחַר שַׁבַּת קֹדֶשׁ הַבָּא עָלֵינוּ לְטוֹבָה, אוּלַי יַגִּיעַ מִכְתַּב מִשָּׁם וְתִשְׁלָחֶנּוּ תֵכֶף בְּיוֹם א' הַבָּא עָלֵינוּ לְטוֹבָה. וַה' יִתֵּן חָכְמָה וְעֵצָה אֲמִתִּית, שֶׁנִּזְכֶּה לֵידַע אֵיךְ לְהִתְנַהֵג בְּעֵסֶק זֶה וּבְכָל עֲסָקֵינוּ. גַּם תִּשְׁלַח אֵיזֶה סַךְ כִּרְצוֹנְךָ שֶׁיִּהְיֶה עַל נִדְבָתְךָ בְּעֵסֶק זֶה. כִּי בְּעֶזְרַת הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ יִהְיֶה לְךָ בְּוַדַּאי חֵלֶק בְּעֵסֶק זֶה, וְאֵינִי יוֹדֵעַ כַּמָּה. לְעֵת עַתָּה תַּתְחִיל לִתֵּן אֵיזֶה סַךְ כִּרְצוֹנְךָ עַל הוֹצָאוֹת, וְיִהְיֶה נֶחֱשָׁב בְּתוֹךְ הַסַּךְ שֶׁתִּתֵּן עַל עֵסֶק זֶה, וְכָךְ אֲנִי מִתְנַהֵג עִם כָּל הַמִּתְנַדְּבִים מֵאַנְשֵׁי שְׁלוֹמֵנוּ עַל עֵסֶק זֶה. וְאִם תּוּכַל לְדַבֵּר עִם יְדִידֵנוּ הָרַבָּנִי רַבִּי יַעֲקֹב שֶׁיַּתְחִיל גַּם כֵּן עַתָּה לִתֵּן אַדְרוּף [עַל הַחֶשְׁבּוֹן] עַל עֵסֶק הַנַּ"ל, וְיִשְׁלַח מִיָּד בְּיוֹם א' מַה טּוֹב. וְאִם תָּבִין שֶׁלֹּא יִהְיֶה דְּבָרֶיךָ נִשְׁמָעִין בָּזֶה תַּעֲשֶׂה כִּרְצוֹנְךָ. וְקִוִּיתִי לַה' שֶׁיִּשְׁמַע לִדְבָרַי, וּבְוַדַּאי יִהְיֶה לוֹ בְּעֶזְרַת הַשֵּׁם יִתְבָּרַךְ חֵלֶק בְּמִצְוָה רַבָּה הַזֹּאת; וַה' יִגְמֹר בַּעֲדֵנוּ לְטוֹבָה כִּרְצוֹנוֹ וְכִרְצוֹן יְרֵאָיו וְכוּ' כִּי לְטוֹבָה כַּוָּנָתִי.
