(יב) אמר שאצלו הרצוא אינו שום עבודה אצלו ועקר העבודה והיגיעה אצלו היא בחינת השוב. כלומר כי בעבודת השם יש בחינת (יחזקאל א) רצוא ושוב, וזאת הבחינה היא אצל כל אדם אפלו אצל הפחות שבפחותים. כי כל אדם מתעורר לפעמים לעבודתו יתברך בפרט בשעת התפלה שלפעמים מתלהב לבו מאד, ואומר איזה דבורים בהתלהבות גדול, וזאת הבחינה היא בחינת רצוא. ואחר כך נפסק ההתעוררות וההתלהבות ולא נשאר לו רק הרשימו וזה בחינת ושוב. ואצל רב בני אדם עקר העבודה והיגיעה הוא שיזכה לבחינת רצוא דהינו שירוץ לבו ויתעורר לעבודתו וכו' אבל השוב הוא קל אצלו. כי זה טבעו. אבל אצלו זכרונו לברכה היא להפך מחמת שכבר שבר ובטל גופו לגמרי. ומחמת זה הרצוא בטבעו, ועקר היגיעה שלו היא בחינת ושוב. כי באמת הוא בהכרח שיהיה השוב גם כן כל זמן שהוא צריך לחיות, כי אם לאו חס ושלום יסתלק בלא עתו ועל כן בהכרח שיהיה רצוא ושוב:

(12.) He said that as for him, the ratzo [running, the surge of enthusiasm] is no service at all — the main service and exertion for him is the aspect of shov [the return]. That is, in the service of G-d there is the aspect of [Ezekiel 1]: "running and returning" — and this aspect exists by every person, even the lowest of the low. For every person is sometimes awakened to the service of G-d — particularly during prayer, when his heart is sometimes very inflamed and he says certain words with great enthusiasm, and this is the aspect of ratzo.
