(לו) שמעתי בשמו שאמר שהוא מרגיש צרות ישראל רחמנא לצלן קדם מכל הצדיקים, כי הוא יודע הגזרה והצרה חס ושלום כשהוא עדין בשרש, ואחר כך מגיע הדבר לשאר הצדיקים. ואמר שזה מחמת שאני יודע שפלותי באמת, ומחמת זה אני יודע גדל מעלת קדשת ישראל כמה הם יקרים וגבוהים מאד, כי הם נמשכים ונלקחים ממקום עליון ונורא ונשגב מאד. על כן אני יודע הכל מקדם כנ"ל, השם יתברך ירחם עלינו בזכותו ויבטל כל הגזרות, ויהפך הכל לטובה:

I heard in his name that he said he feels the troubles of Israel, G-d save us, before all the other tzaddikim — for he knows of the decree and the trouble, G-d forbid, when it is still in its root.
