(מז) שמעתי ממנו בחרף תקס"ג בתחלת ההתקרבות שאמר שיודע שרשי התורה ממקום שהתורה הקדושה באה. כי יש שרשי התורה שהיא למעלה מהתורה שמשם נמשך כל התורה, ואינו יכול להתלבש כלל בתוך התורה, ויש שהיא בבחינת אסמכתא שהיא רק בדרך אסמכתא בעלמא נסמך על המקרא, מחמת שהוא גבוה ומרומם מאד. גם שמעתי שאסמכתא פרושו סמיכה שהענין נסמך על המקרא כמו שסומכין על איזה דבר וכשסומכין על איזה דבר בודאי הסומך גבוה מן הנסמך והוא כנ"ל והבן:

For there are roots of the Torah which are higher than the Torah — from which the entire Torah is drawn — and they cannot be clothed at all within the Torah.
