(ג) אמר בדברי רבותינו זכרונם לברכה מצינו שכל אחד מתחיל מן המקרא שלו, כגון מה שמצינו שמר מפיק לה מזה המקרא, ומר מאידך מקרא. כי כל אחד יש לו מקום שמשם מתחיל הלמוד והתורה שלו, וכפי אותה ההתחלה מזה המקרא כן על פי סדר זה הולך כל התורה אצלו. והשני שמתחיל ממקרא אחר יש לו סדר אחר לפי ההתחלה שלו, כי כל אחד לפי התחלתו מאיזה מקום שהוא כן משתנה והולך כל הסדר של כל התורה שלו. ואם היה זה התנא בא למקרא אחר של התנא השני לא יוכל לקח משם כי כל אחד צריך רק לקבל ולקח ולהתחיל ממקום שלו אבל וכו' יכול להתחיל מכל מקום וכו':

(3.) He said: "In the words of our Rabbis of blessed memory we find that each one begins from his own verse — as we find that one sage derives it from this verse and another from a different verse. For each one has a place from which his learning and Torah begins. And according to that beginning from that verse — so goes the entire Torah in his ordering. And the second one who begins from a different verse has a different ordering according to his beginning. For each one according to his starting point — from whichever place it is — so changes and goes the entire ordering of all his Torah. But <span style="color:#b8a060; font-style:italic;" title="הַשְׁמָטָה — מִכָּל מָקוֹם"><I can begin from any place I wish — and understand the matter.></span>
