(מא) פעם אחת היה ספר האלף בית (ספר המדות) בכתב אצל חברנו רבי נפתלי, ורבי נפתלי ישב עמו על העגלה כי היה מלוה אותו כשנסע לנאווריטש. ענה ואמר על ספר האלף בית שראהו ביד רבי נפתלי הנ"ל: "מיין ליבער הרציקער חבר מיין ליבער גיטרייער חבר. האט דאס האט מיך גימאכט פאר איין יהוד". [אהובי ורעי המסור זה עשה אותי ליהודי] הינו שעל ידי אלו הדברים הנאמרים בספר האלף בית על כל מדה ומדה, על ידי זה התגבר לשבר כל מדה ומדה עד שזכה למה שזכה:
