כשהודיע לי רבנו זכרונו לברכה ענין ההתבודדות והשיחה בינו לבין קונו, דברתי עמו, הלא האדם הוא בעל בחירה. ולא השיב לי בפרוש רק כלאחר יד, כאומר אף על פי כן. כלומר אף על פי שאי אפשר לבאר לך הענין בשלמות, אף על פי כן צריכין לנהג כך. ואנכי לא יכלתי לשאל יותר כי ידעתי כי קשיא זו יכולין להקשות גם על כל התפלות שסדרו לנו רבותינו זכרונם לברכה מכבר על ענין תשובה והתקרבות להשם יתברך כגון ברכת השיבנו וכיוצא (ועין בזה בלקוטי הלכות הלכות פקדון הלכה ג):
