פְּעָמִים הַקָּדוֹשׁ בָּרוּךְ הוּא מֵבִיא עַל הָאָדָם דְּבָרִים, כְּדֵי שֶׁיָּבִין מֵהַדְּבָרִים רַחֲמָנוּתוֹ וֶאֱלֹקוּתוֹ יִתְבָּרַךְ.
Hashem Yisburach will certainly complete His own work — and His hand is always uppermost. And all those thoughts of teshuvah that come to a person — not one of them is lost. Even though one has not yet merited to proper teshuvah. And even if the adversary strengthens against him afterwards even more — and he falls lower and lower, Heaven forbid — even so, whatever arousal he was occasionally aroused to — even a small bit as thin as a hairsbreadth — is never lost forever. And in the end he will have repair through this — through the accumulation of the thoughts of teshuvah that he had at times in the days of his life. Through the power of the great Tzadik — who strengthens and gives life to everything — those who dwell above and those who dwell below. And who arouses and gives life to all those who have descended very far below. Through the power of the great Tzadik — who strengthens and gives life to everything — those who dwell above and those who dwell below. And who arouses and gives life to all those who have descended very far below — and makes known to them that "the whole earth is full of His glory" [Isaiah 6:3]. Which is the aspect of "Awake and sing, you who dwell in the dust" [Isaiah 26:19].
עַל-יְדֵי שֶׁדּוֹבְרִין עַל הַצַּדִּיק עַל-יְדֵי זֶה נִתְגַּבֵּר הַפִּילוֹסוֹפְיָא בָּעוֹלָם, וְכֵן לְהֵפֶךְ.
When a person is exiled and tossed about from the holiness of Israel — in places very distant from Hashem Yisburach — and he has no resting place for the sole of his foot. Then he must strengthen himself greatly in faith in the wise ones. For now the essential repair is only through the power of the true Tzadik in whom he believes — who is the aspect of the general intellect, the supernal wisdom. Through which, when one is truly included in him, all the limits and all the contractions are sweetened — and everything is repaired.
יֵשׁ נָחָשׁ וּנְמָלָה בְּתוֹךְ פִּיהָ, וְזֹאת הַנְּמָלָה אֵין לָהּ נַיְחָא בְּוַדַּאי מֵחֲמַת שֶׁהִיא בְּתוֹךְ פִּיהָ שֶׁל נָחָשׁ. וְהַנָּחָשׁ פְּעָמִים הוֹלֵךְ וּפְעָמִים מְעוֹפֵף, וְהַחִלּוּק שֶׁבֵּין הֲלִיכָה לַעֲפִיפָה, כִּי בַּעֲפִיפָה יוּכַל לָעוּף וְלִפְרֹחַ בְּרֶגַע הַרְבֵּה, אֲבָל בַּהֲלִיכָה הוּא הוֹלֵךְ מְעַט מְעַט, כְּדֶרֶךְ הַהוֹלֵךְ שֶׁהוּא תְּנוּעָה כְּבֵדָה. וּבְכָל הַדִּבּוּרִים רָעִים שֶׁמְּדַבְּרִין, וּבִפְרָט כְּשֶׁהֵם נוֹגְעִים עַל הַצַּדִּיק הַגָּדוֹל, בְּאֵלּו הַדִּבּוּרִים הֵם עוֹשִׂים כְּנָפַיִם לְהַנָּחָשׁ שֶׁיּוּכַל לְעוֹפֵף. וְהַנָּחָשׁ הֵם אֵלּוּ הַחֲכָמִים לְהָרַע הַחוֹקְרִים פִּילוֹסוֹפְיָא וְאֶפִּיקוֹרְסוּת, וְהֵם בְּחִינַת הַנָּחָשׁ, בְּחִינַת "וְהַנָּחָשׁ הָיָה עָרֹם מִכָּל חַיּוֹת הַשָּׂדֶה", וְעַל-יְדֵי דִּבּוּרִים רָעִים עוֹשִׂים כְּנָפַיִם לְהַחֲכָמִים אֵלּוּ שֶׁהֵם בְּחִינוֹת הַנָּחָשׁ שֶׁיּוּכְלוּ לָעוּף וְלִפְרֹחַ, הַיְנוּ שֶׁמְּעוֹפֶפֶת וּמִתְפַּשֶּׁטֶת חָכְמָתָם וְאֶפִּיקוֹרְסוּת שֶׁלָּהֶם בָּעוֹלָם, וּמַזִּיק מְאֹד לְהָעוֹלָם. וְגַם בְּחָכְמָתָם וַחֲקִירוֹתָם בְּעַצְמָם הֵם מְעוֹפְפִים כְּמוֹ מִי שֶׁיֵּשׁ לוֹ שֵׂכֶל מְעוֹפֵף, הַיְנוּ שֶׁשִּׂכְלָם מְעוֹפֵף בִּמְהִירוּת וְנִפְתָּח לָהֶם חָכְמָתָם מְאֹד. אֲבָל אִם אֵין לְהַנָּחָשׁ כְּנָפַיִם, הַיְנוּ שֶׁאֵין לָהֶם דִּבּוּרִים רָעִים כַּנַ"ל אֲזַי אֵין לְהַנָּחָשׁ רַק בְּחִינַת הֲלִיכָה, הַיְנוּ שֶׁאֵין לְהַחֲכָמִים לְהָרַע הַנַּ"ל רַק מַה שֶּׁחוֹקְרִים בֵּינָם לְבֵין עַצְמָן, וְאֵינָם מְעוֹפְפִים בָּעוֹלָם, הַיְנוּ שֶׁאֵין מִתְפַּשֵּׁט וּמְעוֹפֵף חָכְמָתָם בָּעוֹלָם וְאֵינָם יְכוֹלִים לְהַזִּיק לְהָעוֹלָם, רַק לְמִי שֶׁסָּמוּךְ אֲלֵיהֶם כְּגוֹן תַּלְמִידֵיהֶם וְחַבְרֵיהֶם, אֲבָל בְּרִחוּק מֵהֶם אֵינָם יְכוֹלִים לְהַזִּיק, כְּמוֹ הַהוֹלֵךְ שֶׁהוֹלֵךְ רַק מְעַט וְאֵינוֹ יָכוֹל לְמַהֵר לְמֵרָחוֹק כְּמוֹ הַמְעוֹפֵף. וְגַם בֵּינָם לְבֵין עַצְמָן אֵין שִׂכְלָם מְעוֹפֵף, הַיְנוּ שֶׁאֵין נִפְתָּח לָהֶם הַחְכָמָה כָּל-כָּךְ, וְאֵינָם מְעוֹפְפִים וּמְהִירִים בַּחָכְמוֹת שֶׁלָּהֶם, רַק חוֹקְרִים בְּחָכְמָתָם מְעַט מְעַט כְּמוֹ הַהוֹלֵךְ, וְגַם מַה שֶּׁמַּזִּיקִים לַאֲחֵרִים בְּחָכְמָתָם הוּא רַק בִּבְחִינַת הֲלִיכָה, שֶׁאֵינוֹ מְעוֹפֵף וְנִכְנָס בְּעֹמֶק לְתוֹךְ הַמֹּחַ וְהַלֵּב. אֲבָל כְּשֶׁיֵּשׁ לָהֶם חַס וְשָׁלוֹם כְּנָפַיִם מִדִּבּוּרִים רָעִים כַּנַּ"ל אֲזַי שִׂכְלָם מְעוֹפֵף, וְגַם מַזִּיק לְמֵרָחוֹק כְּמוֹ הַמְעוֹפֵף, שֶׁמְּעוֹפֵף בְּשָׁעָה אַחַת לְמֵרָחוֹק, וְגַם שֶׁמְּעוֹפֵף חָכְמָתָם הַמְשֻׁבֶּשֶׁת וְנִכְנָס וְנִדְבָּק בְּהַמֹּחַ וְהַלֵּב בְּעֹמֶק גָּדוֹל מְאֹד.
Shazar, the (-who is) good and sweeter than honey, who drinks thirstily from the waters of kindness, waters of daas (-realization of knowledge), and the understanding of the true Tzadik, to extinguish the heat of the heart which burns for the vanities of this world, fortunate is he, and fortunate is his lot. Shalom and life and all (that is) good, amen. Today I arrived at my house, and I found his pleasant letter with the attached check of the amount of 100 one hundred lira, and behold there is no describing the satisfaction and the delight and the holy vitality that I had from this, spiritually and also physically, and I raised my palms/hands and my heart in prayer to the supernal G-d that he should give him (-speaking in third person) and to his house long life blessed
וְהַנְּמָלָה הַמּוּנָח בְּתוֹךְ פִּי הַנָּחָשׁ הוּא בְּחִינַת חֲכַם הַדּוֹר, שֶׁהוּא חָכָם הַיָּשָׁר וְהַצַּדִּיק וּבַעַל מִדּוֹת טוֹבוֹת. כִּי הֶחָכָם הוּא בְּחִינַת נְמָלָה כְּמוֹ שֶׁכָּתוּב "לֵךְ אֶל נְמָלָה עָצֵל רְאֵה דְּרָכֶיהָ וְחַכַם", כִּי זֶה הֶחָכָם מְלַמֵּד דַּעַת וְדַרְכֵי ה' אֶל הָעָם.

כְּשֶׁאֵלּוּ הַחֲכָמִים נִכְנָסִים בַּחֲקִירָתָם לַחֲקֹר בְּאֵלּוּ הַחָכְמוֹת אָז יֵשׁ לְהֶחָכָם צַעַר גָּדוֹל מְאֹד, וְיֵשׁ לוֹ תָּמִיד מִלְחָמָה גְּדוֹלָה עִמָּהֶם, הַיְנוּ עִם בְּחִינַת הַנָּחָשׁ הַנַּ"ל. וּבֵין כְּשֶׁהַנָּחָשׁ הוֹלֵךְ וּבֵין כְּשֶׁהוּא מְעוֹפֵף יֵשׁ לוֹ צַעַר גָּדוֹל וּמִלְחָמָה גְּדוֹלָה, רַק שֶׁבְּוַדַּאי בְּעֵת הָעֲפִיפָה צַעֲרוֹ גָּדוֹל יוֹתֵר מְאֹד, וְאֵין לוֹ שׁוּם נַיְחָא בֵּין כְּשֶׁהוּא הוֹלֵךְ בֵּין כְּשֶׁהוּא מְעוֹפֵף, רַק שֶׁיֵּשׁ מְמֻצָּע בֵּין הַהֲלִיכָה וּבֵין הָעֲפִיפָה, וְהוּא בְּעֵת שֶׁפּוֹסֵק הָעֲפִיפָה וּמוֹרִיד עַצְמוֹ מִן הָעֲפִיפָה מִמַּעְלָה לְמַטָּה, כְּדֶרֶךְ הַמְעוֹפֵף בְּעֵת שֶׁרוֹצֶה לְשַׁלְשֵׁל וּלְהוֹרִיד עַצְמוֹ לְמַטָּה, וַאֲזַי יֵשׁ לְהַנְּמָלָה הַנַּ"ל נַיְחָא, כִּי אֲזַי אֵינוֹ הוֹלֵךְ וְאֵינוֹ מְעוֹפֵף, הַיְנוּ כִּי יֵשׁ כַּמָּה עִתִּים שֶׁהַחֲכָמִים נַחִים וְאֵינָם חוֹקְרִים, כְּגוֹן בְּעֵת שֵׁנָה וַאֲכִילָה, וְאָז יֵשׁ נַיְחָא לְהֶחָכָם שֶׁהוּא בְּחִינַת הַנְּמָלָה שֶׁבְּתוֹךְ פִּיהָ.
to draw the holy daas (-realization of knowledge) into the heart, to rectify and to refine and to purify the heart from all (worldly) desires, and he should be able to surmount to bring to fruition all his good and eminent thoughts and yearnings which are hidden from the eyes of people. Who loves him with the love of David and Jonathon, who supplicates for his well being and his health and his eternal
הַצַּדִּיק הַגָּדוֹל שֶׁהוּא בְּחִינַת משֶׁה הוּא צָרִיךְ דַּוְקָא לְעַיֵּן בְּדִבְרֵי הָאֶפִּיקוֹרְסוּת אֵלּוּ, כִּי עַל-יְדֵי עִיּוּנוֹ שֶׁמְּעַיֵּן שָׁם הוּא מַעֲלֶה מִשָּׁם כַּמָּה נְשָׁמוֹת שֶׁנָּפְלוּ וְנִשְׁקְעוּ בְּתוֹךְ הָאֶפִּיקוֹרְסוּת.

עַל-יְדֵי מַחֲלֹקֶת עַל הַצַּדִּיק שׁוֹכְחִין אֶת הַתּוֹרָה.

If you are small in your own eyes — and it seems to you that you are very distant from Hashem Yisburach through your deeds — on the contrary, it is fitting for you to rejoice even more and more. הַמַּחֲלֹקֶת שֶׁחוֹלְקִין עַל הַצַּדִּיק הָאֱמֶת הוּא בְּחִינַת חֻרְבַּן הָעוֹלָם.
It is good to give thanks to Hashem — for your longing and your consolation is the light of the truth that illuminates to all — and it is the consolation of everything. And above all this — the essential thing is the greatness of the power of the elder of holiness, Sabba d'Sabbin (the grandfather of grandfathers) — upon whom we lean. Praise be to G-d — we have one upon whom to rely! Be strong and strong — for Hashem is with you and beside you. Do not fear and do not be dismayed! With Hashem is the hope — that everything will be transformed to good. May Hashem lead him on the straight and true path always.
שָׁלוֹם הוּא בְּחִינַת אֲוִיר הַנָּח וְהַזַּךְ שֶׁעַל-יְדֵי זֶה נִשְׁמָע דִּבּוּר הַצַּדִּיק לְמֵרָחוֹק בְּכָל הָעוֹלָם, עַד שֶׁיִּפְרַח הַדִּבּוּר הַקָּדוֹשׁ לְהַטּוֹב הַכָּבוּשׁ בֵּין הַסִּטְרָא אָחֳרָא כְּמוֹ חֵץ וְהַקֶּשֶׁת, עַד שֶׁיִּשָּׁמַע הַטּוֹב וִיפַלַּח חֵץ כְּבֵדוֹ שֶׁל הַסִּטְרָא אָחֳרָא וְיֵצֵא הַטּוֹב מִשָּׁם בְּשָׁלוֹם.
The adversary lies in ambush for the person always — and especially regarding his end and his outcome. For the more a person ages, the more he must draw close to his root and his repair. And therefore the battle of the evil inclination against him intensifies even more. And it is impossible to leap and to jump over the Gehennom — which is this world — except through the power of the true Tzadik and his books and his most deep and sincere counsels — for each and every one. Which bind his soul to Hashem Yisburach like a seal upon his heart. As Rabbainu, may the memory of the righteous one be for a blessing, said in these words: "I have nothing whatsoever to do in this world — for myself I have no need to do anything at all. I have only come to the world to bring the souls of Israel close to Hashem Yisburach."
'שָׁלוֹם', רָאשֵׁי תֵיבוֹת וְ'דַע מַ'ה שֶׁ'תָּשִׁיב לְ'אֶפִּיקוֹרְס, כִּי עַל-יְדֵי הַשָּׁלוֹם יוֹדֵעַ כָּל אֶחָד לְהָשִׁיב עַל אֶפִּיקוֹרְסוּת שֶׁבְּלִבּוֹ.
Therefore I hereby turn to you from the very depths of my heart — to establish you in the holy obligation that rests upon you — to think deep thoughts, to overcome and to exert yourself with a very strong will — to meditate in his holy books every single day. And to see the new awesome lights within them — until the good fragrances within them enter your heart — for fulfillment and for action. For this is the essential of the essential purpose.
הִתְקַשְּׁרוּת לְהַצַּדִּיק הוּא רְפוּאָה גְּדוֹלָה.
He who penetrates to the very depths of the sea of wisdom of the Tzadik — the Ba'al Tefila — who elevates us from all the heresies and the apostasy to complete faith. And transforms apostasy to the supernal will. Who labors at our repair and the repair of the entire world — to elevate from all the heresies and the apostasy to complete faith. "Please Hashem — Merciful One full of mercy, Gracious One full of grace — Who thinks thoughts that none of His displaced ones be lost to Him. Whose thoughts of the heart are for every generation and generation — have mercy upon us for Your sake. Through his great power and merit — and shelter us in this great time of trouble. For the heresies and the apostasy spread greatly in the world, Heaven forbid — until there is no path to turn right or left. And almost every day several souls are trapped in the net of the unbelievers who educate the young with their evil education — to study wisdoms and languages, etc. And we have no one upon whom to lean — except our Father in Heaven, and the power and the merit of Moshe Rabbainu and all the great true Tzadikim — who know how to draw down a time of favor and to sweeten all the judgments of the world — and to transform apostasy to will."
יֵשׁ לִפְעָמִים שֶׁדַּיְקָא כְּשֶׁאָדָם מַגִּיעַ לְמָקוֹם נָמוּךְ וְרָחוֹק מְאֹד מְאֹד מִקְּדֻשַּׁת יִשְׂרָאֵל אֲזַי ה' יִתְבָּרַךְ מַזְמִין לוֹ שָׁם רְמָזִים לְפִי אוֹתוֹ הַמָּקוֹם, וּמַזְמִין לוֹ אֵיזֶה זְכוּת שֶׁיָּכוֹל לִזְכּוֹת לְפִי אוֹתוֹ הַמָּקוֹם הָרָחוֹק דַּיְקָא.
Remember well, well — all the kindnesses and the wonders that Hashem Yisburach performed with you. So may Hashem continue with you a thousandfold!
הַצַּדִּיק הוּא בְּרִית שָׁלוֹם, שֶׁהוּא עוֹשֶׂה שָׁלוֹם בֵּין כָּל הַהֲפָכִים, וּכְשֶׁפּוֹגְמִין בִּכְבוֹדוֹ וּמִכָּל שֶׁכֵּן כְּשֶׁחוֹלְקִין עָלָיו אֲזַי אֵין מִי שֶׁיַּעֲשֶׂה שָׁלוֹם וְנִתְרַבֶּה הַמַּחֲלֹקֶת מְאֹד בְּיִשְׂרָאֵל וּבֵין כָּל הָעוֹלָם וְנִתְרַבִּין מִלְחָמוֹת בָּעוֹלָם. כִּי רֹב דֵּעוֹת בְּנֵי-אָדָם מְשֻׁנִּים וּמְהֻפָּכִים זֶה מִזֶּה מְאֹד, וּכְשֶׁאֵין מֵאִיר בָּהֶם הֶאָרַת הַצַּדִּיק שֶׁהוּא בְּרִית שָׁלוֹם אֲזַי מִמֵּילָא מִתְרַבָּה הַמַּחֲלֹקֶת מְאֹד, וְעַל-יְדֵי זֶה מִתְגַּבֵּר תַּאֲוַת מָמוֹן בְּיוֹתֵר שֶׁזֶּה עִקַּר מְרִירוּתָא דְּעַלְמָא שֶׁמְּמָרֶרֶת חַיֵּי הָאָדָם מְאֹד עַד שֶׁמֵּתִים מִתּוֹךְ יָגוֹן וַאֲנָחָה, וְכָל יְמֵיהֶם מְלֵאִים כַּעַס וּמַכְאוֹבוֹת וּמְאֻמָּה לֹא יִשְּׂאוּ בַּעֲמָלָם לָעוֹלָם הַבָּא. וְכָל זֶה גָּרַם עֹצֶם פְּגַם הַמַּחֲלֹקֶת שֶׁחוֹלְקִין עַל הַצַּדִּיק הָאֱמֶת, כִּי עִקַּר הַמְתָּקַת מְרִירוּתָא דְּעַלְמָא שֶׁל מְרִירוּת הִתְגַּבְּרוּת תַּאֲוַת מָמוֹן שֶׁשָּׁם הַנְּפִילָה הַגְּדוֹלָה מִכָּל הַנְּפִילוֹת, עִקַּר הַתִּקּוּן וְהַהַמְתָּקָה לָזֶה הוּא רַק עַל-יְדֵי הַצַּדִּיק הָאֱמֶת.
The true Tzadik — all the salvation and all the desire and all the aim of Rabbainu Hakadosh, may his memory be for a blessing — is that we merit to walk with his words. Meaning to fulfill them simply — and to understand one thing from within another. And to find for oneself counsels every single day always, in all that passes over a person at every time and season — by day and by night, in his lying down and in his rising up and in his walking on the way. In the days of his youth and the days of his maturity and the days of his old age — from his beginning to his very end. Whether between himself and himself — or in his conduct with his household and his wife and his children.
עַכְשָׁו בְּסוֹף הַגָּלוּת שֶׁכְּבָר סָמוּך אֶל הַקֵּץ מְאֹד, וְאָנוּ צְרִיכִין עַכְשָׁו לַעֲלוֹת לַעֲלִיָּה גְּדוֹלָה וְלִזְכּוֹת לַגְּאֻלָּה הָאַחֲרוֹנָה שֶׁאָז יַעֲלוּ יִשְׂרָאֵל בְּתַכְלִית הָעֲלִיָּה, עַל-כֵּן הִתְגַּבְּרָה הַיְרִידָה וְהַהַסְתָּרָה מְאֹד מְאֹד עַד אֲשֶׁר נִתְרַחַקְנוּ מְאֹד מֵהַתּוֹרָה אֲשֶׁר לֹא הָיְתָה כָּזֹאת מִימֵי קֶדֶם. כִּי הַשֶּׁקֶר הוֹלֵךְ וּמִתְגַּבֵּר וְהָאֱמֶת נַעֲשֶׂה עֲדָרִים עֲדָרִים וְכָל אֶחָד אוֹמֵר שֶׁאֶצְלוֹ הָאֱמֶת, אַף-עַל-פִּי שֶׁיּוֹדֵעַ בְּעַצְמוֹ נִגְעֵי לְבָבוֹ וְכָל מַה שֶּׁחָטָא וּפָגַם, אַף-עַל-פִּי כֵן הוּא מִתְפָּאֵר בִּגְדוֹלוֹת וְנִפְלָאוֹת שֶׁהוּא הִשִּׂיג דֶּרֶךְ הָאֱמֶת וְיוֹדֵעַ חָכְמוֹת חֲדָשׁוֹת בַּעֲבוֹדַת ה' וְרוֹצֶה לִמְלֹךְ וּלְהַנְהִיג אֶת הָעוֹלָם וְאוֹמֵר שֶׁאֶצְלוֹ הָאֱמֶת.
With what shall we precede, shall we precede… it is upon us to remind ourselves every time of all the kindnesses and the wondrous good things that Hashem performed wondrously for us — what Hashem has performed for us. That we have merited to engage in such things — which stand at the very height of the heights of the world without end. To give life to our souls in this dark and orphaned generation — in our lowly state as it is.
הַמַּחֲלֹקֶת שֶׁמַּכְנִיס הַבַּעַל-דָּבָר לַחֲלֹק עַל הַצַּדִּיק זֶהוּ עִקַּר מִלְחֶמֶת עֲמָלֵק.
You have put joy in my heart. Therefore we are obligated to give thanks and to praise Hashem always — who has performed kindnesses and wondrous good things for us. Through the immensity of your longing to hear such awesome secrets — that we have merited to engage in such things, which stand at the very height of the heights of the world without end. Which give life to our souls in this dark generation — in our lowly state as it is. Remember well, etc., forever.
אֲסַיֵּם בִּדְרִישַׁת שָׁלוֹם בְּאַהֲבָה עַזָּה מִקֶּרֶב לֵב עָמֹק וּבְגַעְגּוּעִים עֲמֻקִּים לִשְׁמֹעַ מִשְּׁלוֹמוֹ וּלְהִתְרָאוֹת בְּאַהֲבָה וְשִׂמְחָה רַבָּה. הַמַּעְתִּיר תָּמִיד בְּעַד יְשׁוּעָתוֹ וְהַצְלָחָתוֹ בָּזֶה וּבַבָּא.
Know — that the entire essential redemption depends only upon this: that the light of Rabbainu be revealed and shine forth — and to raise the banner of Rabbainu in the world. That it become known to all that Rabbainu za.tza.l. has illuminated throughout the entire earth. And that it become known to all — that through drawing close to him, may his memory be for a blessing, all the lights shine — those that need to shine through our righteous Moshiach. To raise the banner of the Tzadik — Rabbainu, may his memory be for a blessing — in the world. That it be revealed and shine forth throughout the entire earth — and that it become known to all — that through drawing close to the true Tzadik, the lights shine….
