Zalman Shazar — the pleasant and the beloved to all. May Hashem, mighty and a warrior, be your stronghold, and may He strengthen your heart with all might and power — to urge yourself greatly to skip over what needs to be skipped, so that you can draw upon your mind and your wisdom the illumination from the melody and the song of wonders — above nature — that issues from the harp of seventy-two strings of the Tzadik, which will be revealed in the future at the very last time through our righteous Moshiach.

Through it he will burn away and nullify heresy and false faiths from the world, and will return everyone to the truth and bring them close to Hashem Yisburach and His Torah, and will fill the entire earth with knowledge to know that Hashem is G-d. Peace and all good for length of days. My brother, my dearest and beloved — how very great was my joy that I merited to see the writing of his strong hand, full of friendship and faithful blessings, which are more precious to me than thousands of gold and silver… I know within my soul the truth that I am certainly not worthy or deserving to receive such honor. With great joy I received a cheque in the amount of 150 Israeli liras (one hundred and fifty Israeli liras) — and from this I had very great pleasure and delight beyond all measure, as I have already informed you of this several times, truly and sincerely.

Many thanks and expressions of gratitude upon gratitude from the very depths of my heart. May Hashem be your help, and in all that you turn to, may you succeed and prosper. I ask of you, my dearest, to review the things I have written to you until now, and to always have in mind the books of Rabbainu za.tza.l. — to ponder them and to be precise in them. For you will certainly find in every single word all kinds of sweetness, and you will certainly be able to give yourself life through them always, even in the very depth of the darkness, in all kinds of afflictions of the soul.

Do not be troubled that I did not write a letter for a long time — for Hashem knows my heart, that I have longed with every fiber of my being to broaden the conversation and to stroll with you in the supernal Garden of Eden of the Tzadik every day. But my mind is not clear because of the betrayals of the times that have surrounded me, as is somewhat known to you.

And if Hashem wills — for Hashem will broaden my mind — then certainly I will overcome and strengthen myself with all my soul, to make known to you every time awesome new things from the salvations and the immense kindnesses that Hashem has performed with us in these latter days, at the end of this last bitter exile, through the true Tzadik — who is the last fortress of our hope. So that even now, after all the bitterness and the many corruptions that we have corrupted — the essential source of our consolation and our hope is the new wondrous kindnesses, which are the aspect of very lofty and most deeply hidden intellectual levels, the roots of the Torah that

are above the Torah — which the Nachal Noavaya Mekor Chuchma (the stream gushing source of wisdom — an acronym of NaChMaN) draws upon us, to give life to all the fallen souls that have multiplied as they have multiplied in these generations. It is upon us to rejoice and to dance with a whole heart, with great joy — that we have merited to know of the one who labors at our repair forever, in every generation. And woe and alas to those who dispute and oppose the one who labors at the repair of their souls at every time. And even though they dispute as they dispute and mock as they mock — even so, in the end the truth will be revealed to all eyes, until all honor will belong to the truth.

And then certainly everyone will run to serve Hashem in truth and to draw close to the true Tzadik, who is the essential wholeness of the truth. He who seeks his wellbeing and his salvation — blesses him with a thousand-fold blessing, and a kosher and joyful festival.
