Who has stirred his spirit — and dedicated his broad heart and his blessed {alternate: clear} abilities — to magnify and to publicize the name of the true Tzadik — the one and only in the world — who is elevated above and above all the true and select Tzadikim, the singular ones of the generations. Who is a shelter and a shield for us even now — even within all kinds of darkness and distancing of each and every person in these our days, in the latter days.
יֵשׁ בְּלִבִּי הַרְבֵּה לִכְתֹּב לְךָ, רַק מֵחֲמַת רֹב עֲיֵפוּת וַחֲלִישַׁת נַפְשִׁי מֵהַתְּלָאוֹת הַמָּרוֹת אֲשֶׁר סְבָבוּנִי מִכָּל הַצְּדָדִים לֹא עָלֶיךָ, אֵין לִי דַּעַת וְאֵין לִי דִּבּוּרִים וְלֹא אוּכַל לִכְתֹּב כִּלְבָבִי, אַךְ לְמַעַן נֹעַם אַהֲבָתְךָ הַתָּקוּעַ בְּעֹמֶק לְבָבִי לֹא יָכֹלְתִּי לְהִתְאַפֵּק מִלִּכְתֹּב, וְכָתַבְתִּי עַל כָּל פָּנִים בְּכָל כֹּחִי. כִּי ה' יוֹדֵעַ וְעֵד, וְגַם לְבָבְךָ יוֹדֵעַ וּמַרְגִּישׁ הֵיטֵב שֶׁנַּפְשְׁךָ קְשׁוּרָה בְּנַפְשִׁי תָּמִיד, וְאֵינִי מֵסִיחַ דַּעְתִּי מִמְּךָ בְּכָל יוֹם וּבְכָל עֵת תָּמִיד.
Fortunate are you, my brother! Fortunate are you a thousandfold — for the inwardness of your heart understands and feels the true truth that now shines in the world. Peace and abundant salvation. For I know — I know indeed — that it is rooted in the inwardness of your heart: the point of holy faith in Hashem Yisburach and in His Torah and in the true Tzadik — the most select of the select Tzadikim — who is the source of all the salvations. And through his words one can be consoled and give life to one's soul in every place and at every time. For through the springs of the wisdom of his Torah he illuminates within us true faith — and this faith is itself the source of wisdom. For through it one comes to conceptions of G-dliness — and to see eye to eye His G-dliness and His kingship and His dominion.
יֵשׁ לָנוּ אָב זָקֵן, זָקֵן שֶׁבַּזְּקֵנִים, אֲשֶׁר כֹּחוֹ גָּדוֹל וְנוֹרָא מְאֹד עַד אֵין סוֹף וְאֵין תַּכְלִית, וְאֵיךְ שֶׁיִּהְיֶה, וְאֵיךְ שֶׁיִּהְיֶה יְתַקֵּן אוֹתְךָ רַבֵּנוּ זַ"ל בְּתִקּוּן נִפְלָא, רַק חֲזַק וֶאֱמַץ לְקַיֵּם דְּבָרָיו וּתַכְרִיחַ עַצְמְךָ הַרְבֵּה לִלְמֹד סְפָרָיו בְּכָל יוֹם מְעַט אוֹ הַרְבֵּה, עַל כָּל פָּנִים לֹא יַעֲבֹר עָלֶיךָ שׁוּם יוֹם בְּלִי לִמּוּד סְפָרָיו וַאֲנִי מְקַוֶּה שֶׁאַחֲרִיתְךָ יִשְׂגֶּה מְאֹד, וְהָעִקָּר - שֶׁלֹּא תִּהְיֶה הַתַּכְלִית הַקְּרִיאָה לְבַד.
Therefore at every time — for this reason I turn to you and entice you to think deep thoughts — to overcome and to exert yourself with a very strong will, in a heartfelt call — to establish yourself in the holy obligation that rests upon you, to meditate in his books every single day, to see the new awesome lights within them.
עַיֵּן עַל נַפְשְׁךָ וְהִשְׁתַּדֵּל בְּכָל כֹּחֲךָ לִרְדֹּף אַחֲרֵי דַּעַת הַצַּדִּיק וּלְהַשִּׂיגוֹ, בְּוַדַּאי יִהְיֶה לְטוֹבָה אֲמִתִּית וְנִצְחִית כָּל רֶגַע וְרֶגַע שֶׁתִּלְמַד בִּסְפָרָיו הַקְּדוֹשִׁים. ה' יָאִיר עֵינֵינוּ וְעֵינֵי כָּל יִשְׂרָאֵל שֶׁיִּכָּנְסוּ דִּבְרֵי הַצַּדִּיק בְּלִבֵּנוּ, כִּי הֵם דְּבָרִים נִפְלָאִים מְאֹד מְאֹד אֲשֶׁר אֵין לְשַׁעֵר.
Until the good and holy fragrances within them enter your heart — for fulfillment and for action. For the adversary always lies in ambush for the person — and especially regarding his end and his outcome.
עִקַּר יְסוֹד תִּקּוּן הָעֵצָה שֶׁעַל-יָדוֹ יָבוֹא הַקֵּץ הוּא אַחְדּוּת וְאַהֲבָה וְשָׁלוֹם בֵּין יִשְׂרָאֵל, שֶׁיִּתְקַּבְּצוּ בַּחֲבִיבוּתָא יַחַד אֶל הַנַּחַל נוֹבֵעַ, וּכְפִי הַשָּׁלוֹם וְהָאַחְדוּת - כְּמוֹ כֵן יִזְכּוּ לִשְׁלֵמוּת הָעֵצָה.
Particularly in these our generations. And it is impossible to leap and to jump over the Gehennom — which is this world — except through the power of the true Tzadik and his counsels and his holy books.
כְּשֶׁיִּשְׂרָאֵל בְּאַחְדוּת הָאֻמּוֹת מִתְפַּחֲדִים מֵהֶם.
