Letter 149

Through the spirit of prophecy of the true Tzadik — one merits to the faith in the renewal of the world.

…Who has arranged with us such awesome workings (until He illuminated our eyes and opened our hearts) — and through such wondrous hints — until He illuminated our eyes and opened our hearts to yearn and to long, etc.…

The Rabbi — the true Tzadik — who looks with great pain at every place where we have fallen — to elevate us from there and to repair us…. Who looks at every moment with great pain at every place where we have fallen — in order to elevate us from there and to repair us…

The true Tzadik — of the most lofty and exceeding stature — who has the power to heal afflicted and crushed sick ones such as ourselves today…

In these generations — one must humble oneself like a trodden and trampled threshold — to seek with all one's resources of strength the true leader-Tzadik.

One must banish sleep from one's eyes and slumber from one's eyelids — to roam, to seek, and to multiply prayer and supplication — that one merit that the true Tzadik (be able to) heal him and to implant within him conceptions of G-dliness — in order to save his soul from the pit.

All who have compassion upon their soul — must cry out greatly — to merit even now to find a true rabbi and leader who is able to implant within him knowledge of His G-dliness Yisburach. Through which all the deficiencies will be filled — and all the troubles will be nullified — and everything will be repaired.
