Letter 150

Sometimes forgetfulness is a very great good. For there are many things that one must forget and remove from one's mind — so that one not become confused and not fall, Heaven forbid, in one's mind because of this entirely, Heaven forbid. And this is a deep counsel — to remember the Torah and to fulfill it.

If you look and behold with the eye of the true intellect — at the most awesome and great wonders of the holy stories — you will stand trembling and astonished from the greatness of the Creator Yisburach — and from the greatness of the true Tzadik — the elder of elders — the most lofty one above all the Tzadikim — above all the most select Tzadikim (the elder of elders). Who boasted that he is very old — and yet he is still entirely like a young shoot and has not yet begun to live at all, etc.
