Letter 25

The essential repair through the Tzadik is that he knows the roots of all the souls — and knows how to engage with each and every one — in his lifetime and after his death — how to repair him, to bring him to conceptions of G-dliness. Which is the essential purpose — the essential delight of the World to Come. Therefore the essential thing is — when one merits to draw close to him in his lifetime.

The more a person ages — the more there must be added to him a higher daas. For the more one ages the more one must draw close to one's root and one's repair. And as long as a person is alive there is upon him the battle of the evil inclination — for "this one corresponding to this one G-d made" [Ecclesiastes 7:14].
